Marimba Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.977026 Composed by Paul SanGregory. Contemporary. Individual part. 9 pages. Distant Engraver Music #3534565. Published by Distant Engraver Music (A0.977026). This piece was composed for percussionist Kevin Romanski, who also provided advice on some technical matters. The title refers to its initial inspiration: the contemplation of different color combinations of the notes in a C13 chord. In terms of character, it begins with a slow meditative repetition of two melodic ideas. One is played as single-handed rolls by the right-hand while the other is a slowly developing melody played by the left-hand. Because the phrases of these two ideas do not align, their interaction creates a kaleidoscopic shifting of harmonic colors. A faster middle section continues developing both the harmonic and rhythmic interaction between the two hands, but in a more active and syncopated way. After a series of dramatic outbursts, the original meditative quality returns and the piece ends quietly with a return of material from the first section.

Grim #4331275. Published by Adam B. Grim (A0.939366). The marimba piece All Good Things Start With a Dream comes from seeing the sunrise and sunset across many places in the United States during Ohio Northern’s National Singers Tour of 2016. As I was sitting in the back of our host’s car, my friend Shawn was talking to our gracious host about his aspirations of becoming a teacher even though he was starting later in life. During the conversation, we were driving across the prairie to the home we would be staying in. As our host said, Follow your dreams, and your life will never be boring Shawn replied, Oh definitely. I believe that all good things start with a dream. That is the inspiration for this piece. Sunrise, inspiration, and a dream.

Marimba Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.935391 Arranged by Dan Heslink. Christian,Christmas. Individual part. 13 pages. Pharaoh Publications #6194993. Published by Pharaoh Publications (A0.935391). Christmas Medley for Marimba Trio . . . . . . . . . . . . . . arr. Dan HeslinkThis medley combines three of the most favored Carols celebrating the miracle of Christ’s birth. Angels We Have Heard On High encapsulates the birth of Jesus Christ as narrated in the Gospel of Luke. The flowing second part of this carol portrays the shepherds’ wonder as they encounter a multitude of angels singing and praising.  The spiritual renewal brought about by the birth of the Christ child is given in What Child Is This? Sung to the tune of the traditional English song Greensleeves, its haunting quality has made it one of the most popular of Christmas carols. And focusing on the immediacy of the Child’s entrance into the world, Away in a Manger has become the most loved of all American Christmas carols.  The medley opens with an eight-measure introduction that immediately establishes the Christmas spirit, and then moves on to Angels We Have Heard on High. The binary form of this section should suggest to the performers two contrasting manners of execution, one involving brisk, rhythmic strokes and the other more legato in nature. At the second indicated rehearsal number What Child Is This? introduces a new key and new meter for new melodic content. The score shapes these phrases with dynamic changes, which should be observed with care. The dynamic arches and divided eighth note passages will enhance the impetus of a rolling ternary meter  The medley’s final selection, Away in a Manger, begins at measure sixty-seven. A light and delicate approach to execution should create an innocent, child-like characterization. The final cadence of this selection is expanded to a bolder conclusion. Players and conductor may wish to experiment with a dead stroke on the last soft note, to artistically suggest that the music may be experienced for a moment even after it is concluded.  This medley will be especially effective programmed on a winter holiday concert. Duration is 2:21. The arranger, Dan Heslink, assigned a difficulty level of medium, and can be contacted at dan@dheslink.com.

Marimba Solo - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1317680 Composed by Public Domain. Arranged by Marcelo Borba. Christmas,Folk,Historic,Multicultural,Traditional,World. Individual part. 2 pages. Marcelo Borba #906358. Published by Marcelo Borba (A0.1317680). Work arranged for marimba with 4 mallets. The First Noel is a traditional Christmas carol that tells the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. The word Noel itself is derived from the French word Noël, meaning Christmas or the Christmas season. The song is believed to have originated in the 16th or 17th century, and its exact authorship is unknown. It has been passed down through generations and has become a popular Christmas hymn. The lyrics of The First Noel typically describe the joyous announcement of the birth of Jesus by angels to shepherds in the fields. The shepherds are guided by a bright star to Bethlehem, where they find the baby Jesus lying in a manger. The lyrics emphasize the significance of the event and the adoration of the shepherds for the newborn Christ. Here are the first few lines of the song:The first Noel, the angels did say, Was to certain poor shepherds in fields as they lay; In fields where they lay keeping their sheep, On a cold winter's night that was so deep. The song is often sung in a reverent and celebratory manner, capturing the spirit of Christmas and the joyous occasion of Jesus' birth. It has been recorded by numerous artists and is a staple in many Christmas carol collections.

Marimba Solo - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.939368 Composed by Adam Grim. Contemporary. Individual part. 10 pages. Adam B. Grim #5360035. Published by Adam B. Grim (A0.939368). Five four-mallet solos from my early work as a composer. They each depict an aspect or event of the campus of Ohio Northern University that happened as a freshman there. Most of these ideas were written when I was in high school, but they got some additional work as I went through my freshman year. These are not my best work, but they are good teaching tools that I have used a couple of times for short lessons on certain techniques for four-mallet marimba playing. Sorry. There are no sound files as of now. The sound files were corrupted somewhere between the three computers they've been on over the past 6 years.
