This piece began life as an improvisation inspired by personal stories. With simple pulsating rhythm and undulating harmonies, the music grows from nothing into a moment of heartfelt contemplation before dissipating into the aether.
Once the performer is comfortable with the flow of the music, they are free to adapt (improvise) the length of phrases and repetitions, as long as the overall arch shape of the music is not lost.
Mallets should be as soft and warm as possible while still allowing for some articulation at louder dynamics. At no time should they sound harsh.
