Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring is a popular piece of choral music. It was composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. It is the 10th movement of the cantata Herz und Mund und Tat und Leben. It was written during Bach's first year in Leipzig, Germany. Bach did not compose the melody. That was written by Johann Schop. Bach only harmonized and orchestrated Schop's melody. A transcription of Jesu was done by English pianist Myra Hess (1890-1965), and was published in 1926 for solo piano.
In 1934, Hess' version was adapted for piano duet. British organist Peter Hurford made a transcription of Jesu for organ. Today, Bach's piece is often performed at weddings and funerals. Bach wrote the piece for voices with trumpet, oboes, strings and continuo. Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring is one of Bach's most enduring pieces of music.
The present version is a facilitated reduction of the theme where it is soloed by Banjo (Tablature), along with piano accompaniment with chords that can be performed by the teacher and the ends. The Hallelujah (Aleluia) is part of the oratorio Messiah, which is the most famous work by the German composer Georg Friedrich Händel. Oratorio is a genre of musical composition basically sung, being widely used, besides the orchestra, vocal solos and choir. It generally narrates biblical themes.
The Messiah (HWV 56, 1741) is an oratorio about the life of Jesus Christ, the Messiah. It has 51 movements divided into three parts: the Prophecies about Jesus' birth, the Passion, and the Resurrection. The Hallelujah is the 42nd movement, at the end of the second part, where all the joy over the Messiah's victory over death and sin is demonstrated.

By Pete Seeger. By American Folk Tune. Arranged by Sandy McIntire. Children,Comedy,Country,Folk,Instructional. Score. 7 pages. Sandy McIntire #5209727. Published by Sandy McIntire (A0.697561).

Big Rock Candy Mountain is an all time favorite folk tune that can be dated back to the 1890s. It was recorded in 1928 by Harry McClintock and popularized in the 1930s by Woody Guthrie and in the 1960s by Pete Seeger. Over the years, the words, originally bawdy, changed to fit the times and audiences, but always remaining true to the hobo's dream of paradise. The lyrics in this arrangement are those of Pete Seeger. The tune is provided for voice, fiddle, mandolin, and piano and includes chords for guitar and banjo. Another more elaborate arrangement for fiddle is included in McIntire's Mountain Momma Fiddle Tunes series and also available on this web site.  .
