By Fernando Ortega. By Robert Lowry. Arranged by Kenneth Martin. 21st Century,Contemporary,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 7 pages. Martin Music Editions #996658. Published by Martin Music Editions (A0.1414908).

In this stripped-down yet deeply emotive arrangement of Nothing But the Blood of Jesus, crafted in the style of Fernando Ortega and Jesus Culture, the focus is on the interplay between violin, voice, and piano. This rendition radiates a sense of intimacy and contemplation, drawing listeners into a sacred space of worship and reflection.

The piano introduces the piece with gentle, lingering chords that evoke a sense of reverence. Its melodies are reminiscent of Fernando Ortega's contemplative style, creating a foundation that supports and uplifts the subsequent elements of the arrangement.

As the vocalist begins, their voice carries the timeless lyrics with sincerity and warmth. Each word is infused with meaning, resonating against the piano's backdrop. The vocal delivery, reminiscent of Jesus Culture's heartfelt expression, conveys both vulnerability and deep conviction, inviting listeners to engage with the profound message of the hymn.

The violin enters delicately, weaving its melodic lines around the vocal phrases. Its tone is expressive and soul-stirring, adding a poignant layer of emotion to the arrangement. The violin's presence evokes Fernando Ortega's introspective sensibility, enhancing the lyrical depth and drawing out the thematic richness of the hymn.

As the arrangement progresses, the piano's role evolves, providing rhythmic support and harmonic depth. The vocal and violin melodies intertwine, creating a dialogue that reflects the spiritual journey depicted in the lyrics. The simplicity of the instrumentation allows each element to shine individually while blending harmoniously together.

During the chorus, the arrangement swells with emotional intensity. The vocalist's delivery becomes more impassioned, emphasizing the profound truth encapsulated in the refrain. The piano responds with cascading arpeggios, underscoring the soaring declarations of faith and redemption.

In the quieter moments, the violin takes center stage, offering introspective solos that invite contemplation. Its melodic lines soar above the piano's accompaniment, articulating the yearning and gratitude expressed in the hymn's verses.

As the arrangement reaches its culmination, the trio of voice, violin, and piano unites in a transcendent climax. The vocal harmonies rise in unison, resonating with the instrumentation to create a moment of profound connection and worshipful response.

In this arrangement of Nothing But the Blood of Jesus, the collaboration between voice, violin, and piano channels the spirit of Fernando Ortega and Jesus Culture. Rooted in simplicity yet imbued with deep emotion and spiritual depth, this rendition invites listeners to experience the transformative power of grace and redemption through music.

Please contact me by email at jfries@ptd.net to make a special request or to express your comments or concerns. The Impossible Dream (The Quest) is a popular song composed by Mitch Leigh, with lyrics written by Joe Darion. The song is the most popular song from the 1965 Broadway musical Man of La Mancha and is also featured in the 1972 film of the same name starring Peter O'Toole. The complete song is first sung by Don Quixote as he stands vigil over his armor, in response to Aldonza (Dulcinea)'s question about what he means by following the quest. It is reprised partially three more times – the last by prisoners in a dungeon as Miguel de Cervantes and his manservant mount the drawbridge-like prison staircase to face trial by the Spanish Inquisition. A version recorded by Jack Jones peaked at No. 35 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart and reached No. 1 on the Easy Listening chart.

By Lisa Waites. By Lisa Waites. Celtic,Christian,Irish,Lent,Praise & Worship,Religious. Score. 1 pages. Servant Song Music and Ministry #1013108. Published by Servant Song Music and Ministry (A0.1432695).

We Are Your Creation is a new piece of liturgical service music that functions beautifully as a musical Prayer of Confession or Renewal of Faith for any Sunday in Ordinary Time. It is also appropriate for use as a hymn within your Sunday worship service if you'd like to feature Creation Time or Creation Care, Epiphany, Graduation/Confirmation, Life Stages/Changes, Deepening Discipleship and Spirituality, or a Repentance and Reconciliation theme. The lyrics reference Psalm 139:1-12. The lyrics also draw from a stanza of Stuart Kestenbaum's poem Holding the Light (used with the author's permission). The lyrics are gently trinitarian (God, Jesus, Spirit), offering worshippers the opportunity to confess with honesty and integrity, while simultaneously singing with the hopeful confidence of our faith, trusting in God's restorative goodness and grace.

The melody line of this piece has a lovely, lilting (Celtic) feel, and the key is set in F Major. It is simple, yet highly singable, and suitable for average congregational vocal ranges. The piano and guitar scores are highly accessible for beginner accompanists and early intermediate instrumentalists alike. This melody may become an earworm and your congregation or choir will enjoy singing it, again and again!

I hope to provide an audio recording and a lyric video for YouTube later this year, but for now, check out the digital download of the PVG (Piano/Vocal/Guitar) score.

By The Beatles. By John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Arranged by John Fries. 20th Century,Pop,Rock,Standards. Score. 2 pages. John Fries #804091. Published by John Fries (A0.1205900).

Please contact me by email at jfries@ptd.net to make a special request or to find out all that I have to offer and to express your comments or concerns. Thanks, John.  Can't Buy Me Love is a song by the English rock band the Beatles that was released in March 1964 as the A-side of their sixth single.  It was written by Paul McCartney and credited to the Lennon–McCartney partnership.  The song was included on the group's album A Hard Day's Night and was featured in a scene in Richard Lester's film of the same title. The single topped charts in the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and Sweden.  In the UK, it was the fourth highest selling single of the 1960s.  The song's verse is a twelve-bar blues in structure, a formula that the Beatles seldom applied to their own material.  When pressed by American journalists in 1966 to reveal the song's true meaning, McCartney stated: I think you can put any interpretation you want on anything, but when someone suggests that 'Can't Buy Me Love' is about a prostitute, I draw the line.  He went on to say: The idea behind it was that all these material possessions are all very well, but they won't buy me what I really want.  However, he was to comment later: It should have been 'Can Buy Me Love' when reflecting on the perks that money and fame had brought him.
