The introduction to Lehar's lesser known operetta The Little Prince works well as a stand-alone work (with the addition of a bar at the end to close it). There is plenty of variety in the piece, despite its relatively short length.
It has plenty of interest for all players in the band, although the key makes the Tenor and Baritone Sax parts a bit challenging.

This fine piece (originally for Horn and Orchestra - available on this site) exploits the full range of expression and virtuosity available to the modern horn player, without making it too difficult for most accomplished performers.

This arrangement enables another platform for this work to be performed on and, I think, transfers rather well!

Carl Heinrich Hübler (Wachwitz, near Dresden, 4 December 1822 – 14 April 1893) was the hornist in the Dresden Royal Court orchestra from 1844 until his retirement in 1891. He was appointed royal chamber musician in 1851 and 1886 was given the title chamber virtuoso, in recognition of his merits.

This excellent piece for two horns and orchestra has not been available (as far as I know) as a modern, computer typeset score and parts. It is a marvellous addition to the repertoire.

A relatively unknown, but glorious piece by this underplayed composer. Best known for his opera The Vampire, his music is very much in the romantic style and quite similar, in some ways, to Weber. It transcribes very nicely for Concert Band, giving everyone opportunities to enjoy themselves. This opening extract from Verdi's Ernani is a suitably dramatic and energetic piece for chorus and orchestra. It will fit into an opening section of an opera fiesta, while being less known than many others.
While Ernani is not well known these days, it was first performed on 9 March 1844, and it was immensely popular, and was revived countless times during its early years. It became Verdi's most popular opera until it was superseded by Il trovatore after 1853. In 1904, it became the first opera to be recorded completely.
