Merengue de Merlín is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for two Oboes.

This duet is based on the traditional Latin style of Merengue that emerged in the Dominican Republic during the Nineteenth Century. The Merengue dance became hugely popular in the 1950s and new forms continue to draw audiences around the world.

Calypso d’Isaac is an exciting original composition by David McKeown, arranged as a duet for two Oboes.

Calypso’s roots lie in West Africa but first appeared in recognisable form in the late 19th century in Trinidad.  Originally sung in French Creole, the music quickly spread throughout the Caribbean and Venezuela. Calypso performers such as Mighty Sparrow in turn have inspired new styles such as Ska, Reggae and Soca, while Calypso rhythms can be heard in countless international hits such as Mary’s Boy Child and Disney’s Under the Sea.
