The Penitence of Time is an Orchestral tone poem based on the many ghost stories told about historic Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, especially those about Moravian College’s own music building, the 1748 Brethren’s House. It was used as a Revolutionary War hospital and meeting place for George Washington and his generals. Bethlehem may or may not be a haven for phantoms and specters, but it is certainly defined by the centuries of history that happened there.
