Original music set to the Hail Mary in Spanish (based on Luke 1:28, 41-43).  A wonderful gem set in an upbeat contemporary arrangement.  Some syncopated rhythms.  Piano accompaniment as well as chord symbols make it accessible for keyboard or guitar family instruments.  Maracas, claves or other Latin percussion would lift up any performance and not detract from the spiritual nature of the piece.  Appropriate for concert, worship, or as an instructional piece. T/B voices with featured bass soloist and piano, with chord symbols to allow the addition of other rhythm instruments. This is a very simple arrangement with no vocal harmony; the chorus sings in unison and octaves when responding to the soloist. Optional alternative notes are provided where the tenor part goes high. There is an instrumental break with optional repeats allowing the singers and/or instrumentalists to riff and improvise; likewise the ending can be extended to add solo riffing and spontaneous harmony from the singers. This arrangement was first performed by the New York City Gay Men's Chorus in 2017.

I composed this sacred music to honor my first wife, Linda, soon after she died in 2004.  It’s for two singers, soprano and alto -- or a choir of sopranos and altos -- with piano accompaniment.  Appropriate instruments might take the place of soprano and alto – e.g. flute and violin.

 The lyrics are based on this prayer:

Be silent, still, aware.  For there, in our own heart, the Spirit is at prayer.  Listen and learn, open and find, heart wisdom:  Christ!
