Yesusum, Yesusum, is a new rendition of an old Israeli folk tune. The text is taken from the Book of Prophet Isiah. The prophetic verses depict a blooming desert and a blossoming wilderness. The fulfillment of this prophecy has been witnessed with the miraculous development of agricultural life in Israel’s southern desert, the Negev. The current musical arrangement for female (SSAA) choir can be performed a cappella or with piano (or organ) accompaniment.

Yesusum Midbar Vetsiya,
Ve’tagel Arava,
Ve’tifrach Kachavatselet.
Ki Nivke’u Bamidbar Ma’yim
Unchalim Ba’arava.

The wilderness and the parched land shall be glad,
and the desert shall rejoice,
and blossom as the rose.
