Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us is a hymn written by Dorothy A. Thrupp (1779 - 1847), an English-born songwriter. It first appeared in 1836 in her song collection, Hymns for the Young. William Batchelder Bradbury (1816 – 1868) wrote the music, and also wrote the tune to the popular children's song, Jesus Loves Me.

This beautiful song is perfect prelude, offertory, or special music piece for Lent, Easter, or general worship or concert, and has also been used for weddings.

Great for advanced upper elementary, middle school, high school, and any level church choir.

The folk-like quality of this pentatonic melody begins this anthem, followed by a second melody by the composer, which combined to make a two part in the third stanza. If the choir learns the melodies of the first and second stanzas, it will be possible for two parts, when sung together, to be very flexible as to which singers do the parts.
