Imagine the Future, Space Travel 2.0, a work for 2-part Treble Choir, encourages students to imagine what impact the future of space flight and exploration will have on our lives. I remember watching the lunar landing on my little black and white TV screen in 1969. Yes, I’m that old. My imagination and awe soared as I considered changes that would happen as a result. Fast forward to 2022. We have a space station that has been orbiting the Earth since the year 2000, continuously occupied with astronauts and scientists. We have multiple telescopes, surpassing our galaxy, sending photos and information back to Earth. We have rovers on Mars. We are sending civilians into space on privately owned rockets! The future is bright. Enjoy the simplicity of initial harmonies and melodies that become increasingly complex as this music for choir develops to an exciting climax, ending in luscious chords that emphasize the wonderment of space.

The music is part of a larger work, Suite for Hope (durata 7 min.), originally composed for a mixed string orchestra. In 2016 a full symphonic version with choir had its first performance at Side By Side by El Sistema, a Global Music Camp in Goteborg Sweden.

On the way back, we stopped at Texarkana, where the famed composer Scott Joplin was born. I hope that my songs could be as popular as his songs in the future.

The rainbow: sign of peace, sign of caring, sign of life, sign of the future.
During the COVID lockdown in Spring 2020, UK residents placed pictures of rainbows in their windows, and, every Thursday, came out to their doorsteps and applauded those in the medical profession who were working so hard to keep them safe. Written at that time, this song, to the composer's own words, reflects on the healing powers of the rainbow, symbol of the caring professions. This version is for SA (or unison voices) with piano - another version for SATB and piano is also available from this site.
