Waves crash onto the sand
A single kayak left to sunbake
his friends had left him for the harbour 

This place is just round the corner from where my
Grandmother and her daughter first showed me
round the harbour on a day with my Grandfather
and it’s etched into my memory 

Now days after the rain we had last week
the bay exhibits perfect turquoise water.
