Choral Choir (SA) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.761688 Composed by Debra E. Stempien and Gregory H. Turner. Children,Contemporary,Instructional,Standards. Octavo. 6 pages. Standard Time #6070293. Published by Standard Time (A0.761688). This setting of Robert Louis Stevenson's poem, The Wind, from A Child's Garden of Verses, is composed for two-part SA treble chorus with piano accompaniment. The extended tonal harmonies ask students to hear and resolve suspended and non-chord pitches within easily accessible thirds and sixths, while Part I can help develop range for the higher voices.  In terms of text, Stevenson’s poem provides mature lyrics for young musicians as well as an opportunity for cross-discipline literary learning.  A current and respected choral director who reviewed the piece referred to the piano accompaniment as fun to play and varied nicely.  In response to the piece as a whole, she also said, I do think the young choral world can use more challenging pieces..
