This setting of Robert Louis Stevenson's poem, The Wind, from A Child's Garden of Verses, is composed for two-part SA treble chorus with piano accompaniment. The extended tonal harmonies ask students to hear and resolve suspended and non-chord pitches within easily accessible thirds and sixths, while Part I can help develop range for the higher voices. In terms of text, Stevensonās poem provides mature lyrics for young musicians as well as an opportunity for cross-discipline literary learning. A current and respected choral director who reviewed the piece referred to the piano accompaniment as fun to play and varied nicely.
