John 1:1 places Christ at the creation of the world, stating In the beginning was the Word, or LOGOS. LOGOS Song adapts the text of John 1:1-6 into language that younger singers can manage, then follows with a simplified doxology, all set to a beautiful yet simple melody with excellent support from the piano accompaniment. This setting provides beginning singers an opportunity to contribute gorgeous, liturgically solid music to the worship service. If your chorus mixes younger voices with more experienced trebles, this 2-part treble version of the piece will offer both groups an appropriate challenge. For a treble chorus more comfortable singing only the melody, there is also a unison version available (S0.249747).

Each octavo includes both a piano/vocal score and a one-page chart showing only the vocals.

2017 Choral Contest Entry.

This little piece is just so much fun! Only two words (if you don’t count ‘Oh’). It is almost as if the sopranos and altos are arguing about which fruit is better. Very very easy and loads of fun. Children's Choirs - as young as 5 year olds - can manage this piece. This is a perfect massed piece for elementary concerts.

This is a bit of an oddity, admittedly, but in the event that you have a virtuoso pianist and a treble choir performing together at Christmas, it could be just what you're looking for! Such was the case in 2016, when Vancouver pianist Jane Coop was the guest of Elektra Women's Choir at their annual Chez Nous holiday concert. I created this piece in order to have something on the programme that was both Christmassy and yet involved the full-on pianism that would typically be on display at one of Jane's solo recitals. Somehow I managed to combine the melodies of not one but two familiar carols (Joy to the World and O Thou Joyful Day) with the flamboyant filigree and wild chromatics -- joyful in their own right! -- of Chopin's Étude Op. 10, No.8. The result, according to Elektra's artistic director, Morna Edmundson, is a fun, bright, and somewhat dizzying experience!

If you're looking for a lyrical piece with limited Latin text, this piece is for you. Not only do the sopranos get their usual melody, the alto part feels more like a second melody than a harmony part. The ABA form naturally breaks the piece into manageable study sections within a class period. The flute is the icing on the cake!

Twp parts to keep things simple
No written Piano accompaniment, just guitar / piano chords.
Suitable for Community Choirs, schools, chamber groups. Not overly challenging but interesting enough to produce great sound.
This arrangement is very manageable but sounds brilliant. Good opportunity for solo verses if you want. Very moving.
Tried, tested and very much enjoyed by all :).

Composer’s Notes:

The Hebrew text stems from a mystical Kabalistic source attributed to the great Hassidic Rabbi Nachman of Breslav. The words tell us, in a poetic and metaphysical manner, about the mechanism that moves the world and keeps the universe alive: there is a singing fountain at the end of the world and a pounding heart at the other end. The fountain and the heart are attracted to each other and wish to get closer, but as soon as they move from their place they lose sight of each other. Once they cannot see each other anymore the heart would stop beating and the fountain would stop singing. Thus, they both stay in their places and sing to each other. Their song spreads over the entire world and sparks of light emanate from it. When the sparks are woven together they produce enough Time for a new day to be created. The music mirrors the soft pounding of the heart and the spreading of this magical melody.
