Choral Choir (TB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1281812 Composed by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP). 21st Century,Celtic,Classical,Historic,Irish,Patriotic. Octavo. 20 pages. Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) #873161. Published by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) (A0.1281812). Boy at Sea (2023) for TB choir and piano is great for community choruses looking for something fun, easy, and interesting for lower voices!Ā TB and pianoText: excerpts from a 1915 letter by Robert Inglis to the Commissioner of PensionsDuration about 5 minutesDifficulty 2 (Advanced high school, collegiate or community chorus)Ā Language: EnglishSheet music is available for purchase soon.Performances:8 Aug 2023 Inversion Coda performed Boy at Sea at Spider House Ballroom Austin, Texas (world premiere)Commissioned by Inversion Ensemble for Codaā€™s Tales of the Sea concert in August 2023, Boy at Sea by Adrienne Inglis for tenor and bass chorus with piano recounts the sea-faring adventures of the composerā€™s great-grandfather as a boy. The text comes from a letter that Robert Inglis wrote in 1915 to the Commissioner of Pensions asking for a raise in his civil war pension. In providing information apparently requested by the Pension office, Robert details many events in his early years, adding a fair bit of sarcasm and wit to the narrative. The composer edited the content to fit into more of a strophic sea-shanty style. The piano part offers a sense of ocean waves as well as a few popular tunes of the day as commentary on the story.Ā When he and his sister were in boarding school in Cowes on the Isle of Wight, he witnessed a historic yacht race. The following year, they sailed across the Atlantic with the family of their fatherā€™s third wife. Life with his stepmother must have been unbearable, because he ā€œwent to seaā€ time after time to escape the unpleasantness she brought to bear. The final departure left him shipwrecked on Hatteras with drunken shipmates. He made his way to Maryland where, to his horror, he witnessed a slave auction. Sensing the tension and possibly inspired to action, he headed west to join the 20th Indiana Infantry. He later served in the 51st Pennsylvania, the Provost Guard, and the U. S. Navy. He fell off of a train in 1863, leaving him injured and in pain for the rest of his life.https://adrienneinglis.com/.

Choral 2-Part Chorus,Choir,Choral - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1471884 Composed by Andrew Orgee. Christian,Folk,Multicultural,World. 12 pages. Andrew Orgee #1049507. Published by Andrew Orgee (A0.1471884). This is a setting of a hymn called Morning from the English Book of Common Prayer by W. Canton, which is giving thanks to our Lord for the beginning of a new day. I have scored this hymn to be sung by a primary school choir at the beginning of the school day with the music teacher playing piano and other children playing simple, supportive percussive rhythms. The hymn combines a gentle habanera rythmn together with an English folk song called The Dark Eyed Sailor. The folk song was collected in the early 20th centuary by Ralph Vaughan Williams in the East Anglia region of England. I used this folk song as a tribute to the school for whom this hymn was originally composed.

Choral Choir (2-Part) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.885580 Composed by Michael E. Ekbladh. World. Octavo. 28 pages. Michael E. Ekbladh #2030467. Published by Michael E. Ekbladh (A0.885580). Dearest tells us a story about remembering loveā€™s past, rambling the woodlands during the days of horse and carriage This setting of the old Gaelic love song Cailin mo rĆ¹in-sa is ethereal, as if seeing memories through a mist. Balquhidder is an imaginary tale of the early love between the famous Rob Roy MacGregor and his wife, Mary Helen. Rob Roy is sometimes called the Scottish Robin Hood. So, a lovely lady Mary suits the story quite well. Highland Laddie tells the tale of the Jacobite Risings between 1688 and 1746. Through the song we see the Highland soldier marching off in his bonnet blue, tartan plaid, and highland trousers. Laddie comes to a near frenzied ending as a glorious salute to all Scottish Regiments. Also available for SATB, TTBB, and SSAA choirs. Orchestra and Band settings of the accompaniment coming soon.

Two-part chorus - early intermediate - Digital Download SKU: C7.CGE333 Composed by George L.O. Strid and Mary Donnelly. General. Sing! With Violin. Octavo. 16 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGE333. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGE333). Featuring two Canadian folk songs: I's the B'y from Newfoundland and Going Over the Sea from Nova Scotia, this spirited setting spins the tale of a boy growing up to become a fisherman like his father. Incorporating the violin (fiddle) part enhances the rollicking, dance-like mood of the piece that is offset by a slower, reflective middle section. A rousing accelerando at the end brings the song to a boisterous, fun conclusion. Boys will especially enjoy performing this work. A Learning Resource Page is included.
