This is an energetic and catchy Christmas anthem, suitable for all ages, but particularly for younger voices singing in school and church choirs. The words are based on Biblical accounts of the shepherds as they are entranced by the news of Christ's birth, brought to them by the heavenly host (Luke 2:13). The verses are in unison and there is a descant part in the choruses. The anthem can be performed with piano accompaniment, and there is also an optional separate trumpet part which adds a glorious sheen and helps to set the atmosphere. Alternatively, a backing track (available separately) can accompany the voices without the need for additional instruments. This is a short score of just the vocal parts.

This song first appeared on the 1977 album Exodus and was released in 1980 as a single which peaked at 17 in the UK charts. This easy arrangement would suit choirs that are starting to learn to sing in parts, with only some occasional singing in thirds and a repetative counter melody. The delivery needs to be relaxed and largely staccato, with emphasis on the first beat. The melody in the verse bars 24-26 needs to be sung with conviction otherwise it can sound slightly wrong and dissonant. The arrangement includes a simple piano accompaniment which can be developed further, and there is also a vocal-only score included.

This is a bright, breezy, and up tempo song originally recorded in 1932. Musically it is typical of the era, and would typically be used as music suitable for a quickstep or for tap dancing. The offensive lyrics of the original have been replaced with the amendment used in the 1984 revival of the show, Me And My Girl, written by Stephen Fry. The arrangement is written for 2 voices and could be used in any combination of voice types, so feel free to adapt and see what works best in your situation. There is a simple piano accompaniment which can be embellished with other instruments, and a vocal score is included so that the singers can avoid juggling with lots of pages.

Bring Me Sunshine is a light-hearted, catchy song written in 1966 and was first recorded by The Mills Brothers and then Willie Nelson. In the UK it was popularised by the comedy duo Morecambe and Wise who used it as their theme song. Although the lyrics are in many ways light-hearted, the message is still very poignant - it's an encouragement to us all to bring more love and light (sunshine) into our world. Similar sentiments are found in other songs of the era such as What the world needs now, All you need is love and Here comes the sun.

This arrangement would suit school and amateur choirs and is mostly in 2-parts with just some additional harmonies at the end, which are optional. The piano accompaniment includes the melody line but this can be omitted once the singers are confident. A separate vocal score is included for the singers. The change of key lifts the mood to a higher level, and throughout the singing style needs to be light, rhythmic and above all full of encouragement.

This song was published in 1940, at a time when there was a demand for nostalgic songs that harkened by back to better times. Although it was not specifically written for a film, it appeared in Lady Be Good in 1941, and won the Oscar for Best Original Song in the same year. This simple arrangement is for 2 vocal parts and piano. It could be sung as a duet or by a larger group, with similar or mixed voices - the lower harmony line often follows the same contour as the melody, so is easy to sing by inexperienced singers. This arrangement includes the vocal and piano score, as a well as voice-only score at the end.
