Charlotte Brönte is a one of the best known women writers of the Victorian era and wrote both novels and poems. Her best known novel is Jane Eyre. She did write it under the pseudonym of Currer Bell. Like her contemporary Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Brontë experimented with the poetic forms that became the characteristic modes of the Victorian period.
In this poem for SATB choir a capella I tried to catch melancholy that Charlotte descripes in her poem about the landscape around a moor. She did it very vivid. You can almost see the colours, hear and sounds and smell it's odours.
