And though the music is a little more meditative than many tunes, it is still in keeping with the original expression that helped give rise to the hymn:  “Had I a thousand tongues, I would praise Him with them all!” After the piano and flute introduction, the new tune is lightly harmonized in both stanzas, but each has it’s own unique voicing at My gracious Master and You break the power, respectively. The brief flute/C instrument solo can add a lot to the piece, but an optional cut from the end of m.41 to m.59 and on to the key change could be offered in the score. After the key change the melody returns in unison, followed by a worshipful close.

A very simple vocal percussion ch sound in the backup parts integrates a bit of rhythm and gives it a groove.

Near the end, desperation starts to show, but as acceptance starts to settle in, the music slows and ends with a cadence signifying that it's time to move on.It can be performed by anyone who'd like to use, I have no set audience in mind. It can be performed by schools if they so wish and can be used to show the various displays of emotion that music can display using different methods of composition. However, I would refrain from any sorts of religious service as this is best served as entertainment.                                                                                                                                                                                                                   In regards to the choir, stagger breathing is highly recommended for the difficult parts, or whenever feels necessary- which could be after ever dotted half note/ measure, or after every phrase. The dynamics are left to the director or the people who shall perform it. This leaves it to be personalised for each group, and unique to each one's own story; I just gave the template.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       To note: one can replace the choir with another 2 cellos and 2 violins, if desired. Paulo Tanzini, former pastor of Church of the Assumption in Emerson, NJ, commissioned me to write a piece for the fiftieth anniversary of the building to be celebrated in mid-August of the same year during the recognition of Mary's Assumption. Although this was to be a fiftieth year jubilee, the parish had been in existence for many decades prior, and many of the choir members had been parishioners since the construction of the new building and some even before.Myidea was to ask the choir members to participate in this piece by expressing their thoughts regarding their devotion to Mary, and from their writing I would assemble their words into a lyric.Initially, A Prayer to Mary was composed as a unison/octave setting, after which I arranged it for SATB with piano accompaniment. Most important in the performance of this piece is to approach it with a generous amount of expression and rubato in several areas so that the meanings of the individual lyric phrases become meaningful and not just words.I have included chord symbols in the score for those who wish to personalize their own accompaniments; however, chord symbols do not, and in several cases cannot capture the exact content of the accompaniment. It would be beneficial to analyze the content of the written accompaniment before assuming that the chord symbols reflect the exact harmony.A Prayer To Mary can be appropriately performed during Mother's Day, the celebration of The Assumption of Mary in mid-August, as a communion meditation or any time during which special devotions are warranted.

One of my ensembles requested a new adaptation of the traditional regional Dalecarlian version of Bereden vag for Herran (Prepare the Way). Since I personally find the arrangement by Anders Bond very beautiful indeed, it seemed pointless. But my resistance was worn down in time and I composed this arrangement without lyrics and inserted the more traditional Bond variant. It is possible of course to replace this with a unison presentation of the chorale or to have the audience/congregation join in. If you prefer to sing the arrangement as it is, you should go directly from bar 25 to bar 31.
