Davila (A0.891025).   Songs from the Book Of Revelation is a powerful new cantata (SATB) and piano accompaniment consisting of 14 original songs from the book of Revelation that may be performed on any occasion throughout the year. I wrote this work during the height of the Coronavirus pandemic. I was inspired to praise God and compose new music using text from the book of Revelation. Next to each song title, I have provided the bible verses for easy access. I arranged the songs in chronological order, but may be sung in any order. Most of the songs are easy to medium in difficulty level, including the piano accompaniment. One of the songs titled Amen! Amen! (Revelation 7:12) is sung and played in whole tone scale and is challenging to perform. There is a couple of short solos, and acapella sections throughout the cantata. California Dreamin' is a number one hit from John and Michelle Phillips (who were members of the folk group the New Journeymen, which later evolved into the Mamas and the Papas). Originally written in C#-minor this version transposed to C-minor to make it easier for you to follow (for example on the piano). You can accompany it with the piano using the chords given above or let your choir sing A-capella. The special part about this arrangement is the constant change of melody between the different voices. The iconic flute solo is not included in this arrangement but can be simply added between the second chorus and the Dal Segno. The original version, scored for solo voice and chamber orchestra, is one of the Rückert-Lieder (Friedrich Rückert, poet [1788–1866]). Stanley M. Hoffman completed his arrangement for SATB chorus and piano in 2001. Hoffman says of his arrangement: Rather than taking the easy way out by placing a pre-existing accompaniment from a piano/vocal score beneath the newly created alto, tenor, and bass choral parts (the soprano part retaining the original melody throughout), I went back to the orchestral score and created my own piano reduction. Bracketed items indicate editorial additions intended to make the arrangement more effective. The piece should be performed in a hushed manner throughout. This edition also includes a sensitively conceived English singing translation by Robert Schuneman.In 2015, Stanley M. Based on the events of 9/11 and including audio clips from where the airport officials indicated the carnage on board one of the planes that struck the former World Trade Centers 1 and 2 on Tuesday, September 11th, 2001.  I was 12 and a half years old at the time, and my brother was 10 and a half.  Before he woke up, he had nightmares about flames.  That was really creepy.  The song centers on the trauma that the elementary school students across the street from the destruction in Manhattan faced as they witnessed the planes strike the towers, and everything that ensued.  It uses the opening melody of Rachmaninoff's 2nd Piano Concerto, repeated and with the addition of drums, a wild bass solo, and some electric guitar riffs.  It's a little painful even for me to listen to.  I listened to it a lot this evening before posting it for sale.Stephen Sullivan- 02/20/2024Southeast Indiana *.
