Pupils also could practice the same lesson in different keys for educational and musical purposes. Each arietta is accompanied by historical notes, interpretative advice and handwritten notes (where present indicate in italics) by Vaccaj himself. All the verses of Metastasio have been rewritten with the orthoepic accents correctly marked on all words of dubious Italian pronunciation. The phonosyntactic doublings are also indicated. An orthoepic legend precedes the method. The appendix includes both the detailed historical notes of each work from which the verses are taken, and the series of intervals to be sung that Vaccaj wrote for the historical editions. The basso continuo has also been made of these sung solfeggios to facilitate their performance by young pianists. This new complete edition of the work, edited in the graphics and paginated from scratch for easier and clearer reading, is further enriched by the precious presentation of Maestro Antonio Juvarra.

The Brindisi (drinking song), Libiamo ne’ lieti calici (Let’s drink from the joyful chalices) is the famous duet from the Italian opera La traviata (1853) by Giuseppe Verdi, and perhaps one of the best known opera melodies in all the operatic repertoire.  This ‘arrangement’ is a practical performance arrangement scored for (reduced to) 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment; its aim is to ease the work of the pianist not having to deal with the many necessary page turns.  it also is a practical alternative for an SATB solo quartet to perform as an ensemble.  It is in the original Italian text. Christmas in Australia is the theme song from the animated, made-for-TV movie Blinky Bill’s White Christmas, a spin-off from the Blinky Bill children’s books (by Australian writer Dorothy Wall) and the Adventures of Blinky Bill TV series. The telemovie first aired on Australia’s Seven Network on Christmas Eve of 2005. In the movie the song was sung by Christine Anu, who also reprised it at Sydney’s 2007 Carols in the Domain. Weather-wise, Christmastime in Australia is very different from that in the Northern Hemisphere. Instead of cold, snow and spending time indoors, there’s lots of sunshine, lots of colour everywhere and lots to do in the great outdoors. This delightful song – Christmas in Australia – highlights the fact that, whilst these differences do exist, the true meaning of Christmas, the reasons for rejoicing, the coming together of friends and family, the excitement of children, the decorating, and the caring and sharing are the same the world over. For on this little world of ours, we’re all one family. So, come and join us as we sing, around the Christmas tree. Christmas in Australia deserves a place in the best of Australian Christmas songs. Unfortunately, it is not as widely known and performed as it should be; perhaps because the music has not been readily available. Hopefully these new arrangements for choirs and soloists may go some way towards redressing that situation. This arrangement is available in six versions – SATB, SSA and 2-Part for choirs; Low, medium and high voice for soloists/unison choirs.

The special part about this arrangement is the constant change of melody between the different voices. The iconic flute solo is not included in this arrangement but can be simply added between the second chorus and the Dal Segno.
