Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1268786 Composed by Michael W. Smith. Arranged by Michael Thomas Coull. 20th Century,Christian,Holiday,Religious,Sacred. 14 pages. MTC Publishing #861318. Published by MTC Publishing (A0.1268786). Agnus Dei - Choral Arrangement for SATB and Piano arranged by Michael Thomas CoullAgnus Dei is the Latin name under which the 'Lamb of God' is honoured within the Roman Catholic church, descending from the Latin tradition.  It is the name given to a specific prayer that occurs in the church liturgy, and the music that accompanies the text of this prayer.   The use of the title 'Lamb of God' is based on John 1:29, in which St John the Baptist, upon seeing the Saviour proclaims 'Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!'This arrangement of Michael W Smith’s Agnus Dei is based on the version that popular American singer/songwriter Amy Grant released on her third seasonal holiday album in 1999. This inspirational arrangement for SATB choir and piano accompaniment can be performed at any time of the year.  The use of open fifths and fourths give the harmonies a sacred 'medieval' feeling, that will impress and fill any audience with awe. Also available for SSA.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.882270 Composed by G. F. Handel. Arranged by A. Douglas Biggs. Contemporary,Easter,Sacred. Octavo. 9 pages. Adrian D Biggs #5970749. Published by Adrian D Biggs (A0.882270). Agnus dei for SATB Chorus and Organ uses as an inspiration the melody from the aria Ombra mai fú from Handel’s opera Serse. The long, lyrical melody borne forward by the steady, quiet, powerful accompaniment conveys a tranquil sacredness. The sense of entreaty and desire for benediction expressed in the Agnus Dei seems a natural fit with Handel’s famous melody. An instrumental introduction leads to the voice calling out agnus dei, qui tollis peccata mundi. An instrumental meditation follows leading back to the conclusion of the piece. Arrangements for other ensembles are also available (Vocal Solo, SSA, SAB) as well as separate versions featuring the addition of Solo Violin, Flute, Oboe or Clarinet and soloist with chorus. Difficulty is moderate for the singers, organist. Suitable for a sacred setting or the concert hall. Duration approximately 4 minutes. Score and part included. Also available for SATB and Piano.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.782530 Composed by Tyler Merideth. Christian,Contemporary,Easter,Sacred,Spiritual. Octavo. 7 pages. Tyler Merideth #4810437. Published by Tyler Merideth (A0.782530). Agnus Dei is the tenth movement from a larger work entitled Reconciliation, a set of 12 Latin prayers. Each movement takes it's inspiration from individual postcards containing pictures of St. Michael's Cathedral in Coventry, England. When performed in sequence, Reconciliation can serve as a worship service however, the individual movements also can stand alone. Although the tenth movement in Reconciliation, Agnus Dei was the initial small seed catalyst that grew into the idea to write a 12 movement work. The idea came to me when I first visited Coventry Cathedral and saw a statue entitled Reconciliation by Josefina de Vasconcellos. The statue depicts two figures kneeling in an embrace. What makes this statue so powerful is that the placement of the statue is among the ruins of the original Cathedral after the bombing by German Aircraft in WWII. I immediately sketched an idea for this movement on the bus after my college choir rehearsed in the cathedral. When I returned to the United States, I wrote a rough vocal line and string orchestra accompaniment. The composition then lay dormant for more than a decade with no major changes. It was only this past week (almost fifteen years later) that I rewrote the accompaniment for piano and cleaned up the choral part. The opening unison vocal line can be timeshared among the voice parts. Since it covers a wide range, let the lower voices sing what range they sing well and the higher voices reciprocate. Please feel free to vary the tempo with rubato throughout the piece to allow for proper breath support. Do not be shy leaning into the dissonances found in the suspensions as the ultimate resolution in the grant us peace
