SKU: MQ.50-0099-E

Composed by David L. Ball and Sebastián de Vivanco. All Saints/All Souls. 12 pages. MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music #50-0099-E. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music (MQ.50-0099-E).

English, Latin.

This jewel of late-Renaissance polyphony for unaccompanied SATB voices was written by Spanish composer and priest Sebastián de Vivanco. Its subject is the commemoration of a martyr, making it appropriate for martyr's feast days and for All Saints. Editor David Ball provides a modern edition with both the original Latin and a singing English translation. Other edits to barlines, clefs, and key signature, in addition to a keyboard reduction, will contribute to a successful performance.

Congregation, SATB choir, brass quartet, and organ - Medium - Digital Download

SKU: MQ.60-0005-E

Composed by Paul M. French. Advent, Annunciation, Feast of the Holy Family. 8 pages. MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music #60-0005-E. Published by MorningStar Music Publishers - Digital Sheet Music (MQ.60-0005-E).

English.

In this treatment of the graceful French melody Lourdes Hymn, brass quartet and organ interact with choir and congregation with more lyricism than fanfare. A choir-only stanza distributes the melody among the flowing SATB lines. A more dramatic interlude with key change sets up a celebratory final stanza with soprano/tenor descant. Some adaptation would allow for a performance without brass.
Instrumental Parts include: Trumpets I and II in B-flat and C, Tromones I and II, Horn in F (sub for Trombone I).

By Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Stitt, Sonny Rollins. By Dorothy Fields and Jimmy McHugh. Arranged by Stewart J Wallace. 20th Century,Barbershop,Broadway,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show. 17 pages. Stewart J Wallace #945722. Published by Stewart J Wallace (A0.1361232).

On The Sunny Side Of The Street was composed in 1930 and was first heard in a Broadway revue which starred Harry Richman and Gertrude Lawrence. The first recordings also appeared in the same year, and it went on to be become a jazz standard, covered by Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, and Art Tatum amongst others. The final bars of this arrangement include a brief tribute to Count Basie, who also recorded the song. The singing needs to light and swinging, with good articulation to the words and accurate placement of the syncopated rhythms. Try to blend the voices so that they sound as one, and aim for a softer, crooning vocal tone, like The Ink Spots or The Andrews Sisters.

Composed by James W. Knox. Contemporary,World. Octavo. 17 pages. Knox Music #6599787. Published by Knox Music (A0.942890).

On the Lake written for advanced SSAA divisi and harp.
Fannie Isabelle Sherrick was an American poet who wrote songs and poems throughout the 1860's that captured hearts and minds. I Can Not Say the Sad Good-Bye was one of her notable songs published in 1873. She was both influenced and encouraged by Ella Wheeler Wilcox who she attributed her success to. Her most popular poetry volume entitled Love or Fame and Other Poems was published in 1880 by W.S Bryan of St Louis and she continued writing for many years.

ON THE LAKE
There's a beautiful lake where the sun lies low, And the skies are warm with their summer glow; And a beautiful picture there I see Where the winds are warm and the waves are free, And the waves lie still in the sun As the flowers at night, when the day is done. You may sing of your silvery seas by night When the moon looks down with a dreamy light; And the stars shine out in the skies above Like the warm sweet gaze of the eyes of love; But the glow on the lake to-day Is a glory that never will fade away. The beautiful lake is a sea of gold And the beauty it wears will never grow old; The trees bend down in the sun's warm glow Till their branches meet in the waves below, And the clouds in the far-off skies Are mirrored anew where the sunlight lies. I love to float where the shadows lie 'Neath the matchless glow of the summer sky; And I love to dream that these waves of light Will never fade in the gloomy night: But I know that the things I love Are as far from my reach as the clouds above. Oh, the beautiful lake is a sea of gold And the beauty it wears will never grow old; The cloudlets of Heaven are mirrored there In a golden splendor so bright and fair That the soul is dazzled for aye By the beautiful light of this summer's day. Oh, I love to dream when this life is o'er We shall moor our boats near the golden shore; And our sorrows shall drift from us far away As the leaves that float in their idle play, And the waves shall smile in the sun When the night is over and life is done.

By Leon Gray. By Leon Gray. Arranged by Leon Gray. 21st Century,Classical,Holiday,Multicultural,Spiritual,World. 8 pages. Leon Gray #913487. Published by Leon Gray (A0.1325252).

Prepare for tears when you hear the stunning choir version of PÅhutukawa. Perfect as a choir song at concerts, or as part of any Matariki celebration with reflection in mind. As a song for reflecting on someone's life, as a tribute, or as a song to really stir your audience, Leon Gray's PÅhutukawa is a heartfelt anthem of both sadness and joy, any occasion, any time of year!

It tells the story and explores the values of this burgeoning holiday on the Kiwi calendar!

At Matariki, we remember those who have passed in the previous year, as well all those we have loved who have passed. The Matariki star, PÅhutukawa, reminds us to reflect on this - in MÄori lore, when a person passes, they travel along the spirit path (Te Ara Wairua) to the tip of the North Island at Te Rerenga Wairua, where the follow the root of a solitary pÅhutukawa tree to the next world.

SKU: A0.1359300

Composed by Chris Hutchings. 21st Century,Christian,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. 2 pages. Chris Hutchings #943759. Published by Chris Hutchings (A0.1359300).

A setting of a prayer attributed to St Columba:

Be thou a bright flame before me,
Be thou a shining star above me,
Be thou a smooth path below me,
Be thou a kindly shepherd behind me,
Today, tonight and evermore. Amen.

The opening has the four parts in slow-moving homophonic chords, with at least two parts staying the same between each pair of chords, so it's very easy to stay in tune and find your note. Today, tonight and evermore is set as a 4-part canon, simple to pick up and not going too high or low, which develops back to a final Amen where the slow chordal shifts return. Entirely diatonic with no accidentals, but sounds fresh and more difficult than it actually is!

This piece is SATB, no divisi, and should be suitable for most sacred occasions. It can be sung a cappella, or with light piano/organ doubling.

Ranges:
soprano Db4 to F5
alto Ab3 to Db5
tenor Db3 to Db4
bass Gb2 to Db4.
