Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.835452 Composed by Stuart Brown. 20th Century,Contemporary,World. Octavo. 211 pages. Stuart Brown Music #5990681. Published by Stuart Brown Music (A0.835452). A fantastic offer price for the full score and all parts! ... Looking for something to add a sense of oriental exoticism to your amateur orchestral/choral concert? This may be what you're looking for! This charming little suite of six dances lasts about 15½ minutes. It consists of a Pavane, Bourée, Sarabande, Allemande, Basse Danse and Galliard, which vary widely in character. As a whole the suite provides some interesting challenges for both performers and listeners. Apart from conventional strings, flute and harp (which can be either pedal or lever) you will need:- One or maybe two Arabian ouds. The parts are playable also on a fretless acoustic guitar. (Needs to be fretless because of the quarter-tones in some of the Arabic modes used.)- A cimbalom (the part can be played on a piano also, with slight modification). You might get away with using a hammered dulcimer but you'd need to make a number of compromises.- A doumbek and a djembe. These beautiful drums are a must for Middle-Eastern or African music. They're fairly easy to find, though finding somebody who can play them properly may take a bit more doing!- Finger cymbals and a gong. These are regular western instruments.- A wind-chime. Anything that produces a nice shimmering spangle of sound will probably do!- A group of singers (SATB). Nothing particularly challenging but see below. The primary oud part, the strings and the singers need to have sufficiently good intonation to pitch quarter tones. These are the exception rather than the rule, but nevertheless play an important part in the character of the music. Apart from this, the music is relatively straightforward and probably playable by any reasonably competent amateur or high school orchestra. In the spring of 2020 I wrote a set of short music tracks for a charity of which I'm a trustee. In order to protect my intellectual property rights in the music, I decided to bring it together into an attractive if not intellectually challenging little suite, hence An Omani Dance Suite. Originally the dances were all in Arabic quarter-tone temperament, but obviously quarter-tones cannot be played easily (if at all) on the flute, harp and cimbalom. So I have made some adjustments but retained the Arabic temperament wherever reasonably possible. I had thought initially of using a santur instead of a cimbalom, but the santur lacks the range and the dynamic capability to be used with a string chamber orchestra. The cimbalom doesn't need to be a concert grand model; in fact it doesn't even need to have dampers. The Omani was something of an afterthought: a musician friend of mine had worked in Oman and commented on how authentically Omani the Basse Danse sounded. The period of composition coincided with a time when I was really missing friends in Vietnam and Romania, so somehow influences from those countries found their way into the music.I'm not bothering with performing rights for this - just go away and enjoy the music! ... but if it inspires you find out more about the charity work that inspires me, feel free to get in touch!https://www.facebook.com/stuartbrownmusic/

SATB choir (choir divisi) unaccompanied - Difficult - Digital Download SKU: MQ.8452-E Composed by Frank Ferko. Advanced/Collegiate. Secular, 21st Century, Creation/Nature. Instrument part. 20 pages. Duration 6 minutes, 7 seconds. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #8452-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.8452-E). English. In the summer of 2011, while I was visiting my friends Don and Sally Roberts in Santa Fe, Sally asked me if I would be interested in writing a new choral work for Don in celebration of his upcoming 75th birthday. The idea appealed to me very much, so I readily agreed to write the piece. Since Don has enjoyed a lifelong interest in the American Southwest Pueblo people and their customs, Sally provided me with several Tewa texts, in English translation, to consider for musical setting. I was particularly drawn to the imagery of Song of the Sky Loom, so that poem became the basis for the new work. The music begins with two baritone soloists singing an introductory 'call-and-response' to which the entire chorus eventually responds. The opening line of text is first presented in fragmented form, as if voices from all areas of nature gradually rise up and then merge into a unified chordal texture. As the text turns to the imagery of weaving, the musical texture, accordingly, becomes contrapuntal: individual melodic lines, sung by solo voices or small groups (the 'weft'), intertwine with each other and also with the main chorus, which provides the overall harmonic structure (the 'warp'). The following chorale section, infused with occasional chromatic inflections, represents the massive 'rainbow' in the text and brings the work to a unified conclusion. Song of the Sky Loom was first performed by the Santa Fe Desert Chorale, under the direction of Joshua Habermann, on July 19, 2016 with three subsequent performances during the following two weeks. -Frank Ferko Duration: 6:07.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1368090 Composed by David W. Barber. A Cappella,Christian,Sacred. 4 pages. David W. Barber #952445. Published by David W. Barber (A0.1368090). This little choral prayer has a text from St. Anselm of Canterbury (ca. 1330), slightly revised by me to make it more inclusive. “Illuminate and inspire, we beseech thee, all thinkers, writers, artists and crafters.†And I love that it allows us “to rejoice in beauty.†I found this text on the wall of a side chapel in Canterbury Cathedral in 1983 and set it originally in 1984 as a memorial to one of my uncles, my father’s brother, who was a skilled landscape artist. I later revised it as one of the movements of my Requiem, composed in 1994 (revised ’95). This piece and more of my music is available for download and purchase from SheetMusicPlus and SheetMusicDirect via ArrangeMe.Find my music books and my new mystery novel, Hedshot, at IndentPublishing.comRead my author/composer blog at DavidWBarber.comContact me at dbarber@indentpublishing.com.

Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.919010 Composed by Karen E. Peace (KE Peace). Contemporary,Holiday,Love. Octavo. 8 pages. Pax Multimedia #2894557. Published by Pax Multimedia (A0.919010). Love poem by the composer. SSAATTBB with piano for rehearsal only.Text: Ah,  but shall i not long for you? Shall I, in obeisance to your scruples , then banish my love to a dark cell and express not its insistent call?   It is you who have loved me and made me love -- Now I am as Prometheus, who, seeing fire, could never after forget its light and for that, submitted to burning pain for love of fire and love of human kind.   And, captive to its eternally mesmerizing call, consented his liver to be consumed.   And so my heart for you.   Each ray of the setting sun that lures my essence outside its boundaries Each sparkle reflected on my solitary walls, each note that calls the soul to absent itself from form each subtle intimation of immortality -- at each my soul cries out for you, who has captured and entranced, plundered and bound, myself, in love, to you.
Ah, but shall I not long?
