Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.955854

By John Barker. By Arthur Schwartz. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. Contemporary. 12 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6453933. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955854).

Dancing in the Dark, by duo Howard Dietz and Arthur Schwartz, is a staple in The Great American Songbook perhaps for its ‘sensual and dramatic’ feel.  Debuting in 1931 at a low point of the Great Depression, its longevity and public appeal is evident by the diversity of performers and ensembles that have recorded it or have it on their repertoire lists.  This arrangement is for 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment.  It features a variety of ‘dance rhythms’ and has a section that features the pianist with choral accompaniment.  Performance time: 3:38+. A nice fit for a concert of ‘dance’ music, or an outdoor evening recital.

Few songs ever become hits as this one did for Louis Armstrong. He defined a style of music all his own and yet influenced every style existing to thi s day. Russ Robinson has done an incredible job of bringing all of these el ements to life in this arrangement of the famous song. Done with optional t rumpet solo part, the piece is truly becoming of Satchmo. All three voicing s are beautiful and will touch the hearts of any audience.
