SKU: A0.1463456

By Kirstie and Dave Smith. By Kevin Smith. Arranged by Kirstie Smith. Broadway,Christmas,Comedy,Contemporary,Contest,Festival,Musical/Show. 5 pages. Kirstie Smith #1042151. Published by Kirstie Smith (A0.1463456).

Arranged as a loving parody of Musicals such as Oliver! and Mary Poppins, this original song with a catchy melody and sing-a-long chorus is ripe for lyrical amendment to suit any stage setting or musical performance. Perfect for use in Pantomimes, school, college and university musical theatre productions, SATB mixed voice choirs, performing arts groups, choral ensembles and in fact any singing entourage.

With unashamed influences from Monty Python, The Sherman Brothers, Lionel Bart and Lonnie Donegan, this humourous ditty is easy to learn and fun to sing! The optional musical interlude is open to interpretation, also allowing for choreography if desired.

Originally written to raise awareness of Crohn's disease, Get Your Belly Out! is now publicly available and may be lyrically altered to suit individual purposes. It is stressed that this song is not affiliated with Crohn's and Colitis UK nor associated to Get Your Belly Out or It Takes Guts campaigns.

Mixed choir (SATB) a cappella and Balsodrum (ad libitum) - easy - Digital Download

SKU: S9.Q47323

Composed by Alwin Michael Schronen. This edition: choral score. Volkslied. Schott Choral Music. Downloadable, Choral score. Duration 4' 10. Schott Music - Digital #Q47323. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q47323).

German.

Never before has the well-known children's song Es klappert die Mühle from the 19th century, based on a text by Ernst Anschütz (1824), been heard as lively and groovy as here. Alwin Michael Schronen, winner of several composition awards, manages in his four-part setting for mixed choir and belly drum ad libitum to turn this simple three-verse folk tune in an entertaining and rhythmically infectious choral composition. Due to the varied onomatopoeic imitation of 'klipp-klapp' by using belly drum, the clapping of hands, 'dabada' and 'klippi-klippi-klapp' interjections of the choir, as well as the stage direction of walking on tiptoe aimed at both performers and listeners, this piece really has the potential of joining in and tapping along.

By Ernest Tubb & Red Foley. By Huddie Ledbetter and John A. Lomax. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. Contemporary. Octavo. 10 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6512313. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955868).

Goodnight, Irene or Irene, Goodnight is a 19th century song written and published as Goodnight, Irene in 1886 by Gussie Lord Davis an African American songwriter. The song (by then much altered) was first recorded (and claimed) in 1932 by American musician Huddie Leadbelly Ledbetter.  The lyrics tell of the singer's troubled past with his love, Irene, and express his sadness and frustration. This true piece of musical Americana is scored for 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment.  It makes for a great program closer, or audience participation number.  Performance time: c.3:00+.

From Wikepedia:
Historians have not been able to definitively identify The House Of The Rising Sun, but here are the two most popular theories:

1) The song is about a gambling hall in New Orleans. The House Of The Rising Sun was named after Madame Marianne LeSoleil Levant (which means Rising Sun in French) and was open for business from 1862 (occupation by Union troops) until 1874, when it was closed due to complaints by neighbors. It was located at 826-830 St. Louis St.

2) It's about a women's prison in New Orleans called the Orleans Parish women's prison, which had an entrance gate adorned with a rising sun artwork.

The melody is a traditional English ballad, but the song became popular as an African-American folk song. It was recorded by Texas Alexander in the 1920s, then by a number of other artists including Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Josh White and later Nina Simone. It was her version The Animals first heard. No one can claim rights to the song, meaning it can be recorded and sold royalty-free. Many bands covered the song after it became a hit for The Animals.
