Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1228231 By The Fifth Dimension. By Galt Macdermot, Gerome Ragni, and James Rado. Arranged by John Fries. 20th Century. 7 pages. John Fries #824352. Published by John Fries (A0.1228231). Please contact me by email at jfries@ptd.net to make a special request or to find out all that I have to offer and to express your comments or concerns. Thanks, John.  The song spent six weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 pop singles chart in the spring of 1969 and was eventually certified platinum in the US by the RIAA.  Instrumental backing was written by Bill Holman and provided by session musicians commonly known as the Wrecking Crew.  As Holman tells it, the recording can be traced to an incident in which 5th Dimension lead singer Billy Davis Jr. left his wallet in a New York City cab; the man who found the wallet was involved in the production of Hair and invited the group to see the show:  After they'd seen it I received a phone call in which they were all talking over one another, saying 'We've got to cut this song Aquarius.  It's the best thing ever.'.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1217428 Composed by F. Key/J. Smith. Arranged by Bill ORANGE Lyons. A Cappella,Jazz,Patriotic,Traditional. Octavo. 4 pages. Bill ORANGE Lyons #813977. Published by Bill ORANGE Lyons (A0.1217428). This piece includes the Orangeman's CAD (Composer, Artist, Director) notes/suggestions. This may answer some of the questions you may have regarding the piece. Keep in mind these notes are merely suggestions. I found having talked to a music teacher or two, some appreciate the guidance these notes/suggestions provide. S-SB (III) sounds more difficult than it actually is. I wanted the piece to be interesting but not so far outside as to wake up Miles Davis. I think you will find the dissonance and syncopation interesting without upsetting. It is my favorite of the five arragements I have created. It does go to 3/4 for a couple of measures but that just wakes people up. If you have an excellent high school choir, you'll have no problem with this one. (If it's too difficult, may I suggest my arrangement, Star-Spangled Banner (I) available through UNCJazzPress.com).
