Daniel Ficarri #895774. Published by Daniel Ficarri (A0.1306407). Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see our God; the secret of the Lord is theirs, their soul is Christ's abode. (Text by John Keble, 1792–1866) This a cappella fugue builds from a simple statement of the theme by one voice to the rich harmonies and suspensions of eight independent voices, illustrating the majesty of the words for they shall see our God. In a contrasting middle section, the voices sing intimately of the secret of the Lord, expanding up and down the scale from a single drone. And in the concluding section, the original theme returns in stretto as the voicing thickens to a rich and sonorous amen..
