The two percussion parts take turns accompanying the choir and painting contrasts with their own melodies and an extended instrumental interlude. Spring is represented by the marimba, the vibraphone and the crotales, that create a tonal world based on the Chinese philosophy of the Five Elements: Spring (wood), Summer (fire), Late Summer (earth), Autumn (metal), and Winter (water). These phases generate or give birth to one another in one order, while they control or undo each other in the reverse order. Nordisk var was commissioned by the Vocal Art Ensemble of Sweden, conducted by Jan Yngwe, and the Rhythm Art Duo - Daniel Berg and Fredrik Duvling, with financial support from Korcentrum Syd (Southern Choral Centre), Lund University. The piece is dedicated to these two ensembles that also performed it at its world premiere on May 19, 2015 at the venue Artisten in Gothenburg. - Daniel Fjellstrom Vocal score. This arrangement of it is one of the most hauntingly beautiful. It has an ethereal sound to it that culminates in a glorious conclusion. It was written using a more linear approach, rather than a vertical one. That is, the music is based less on a chord progression and more on separate “melodies” throughout, more like medieval and early Baroque music. For that reason, some of the intervals and staggered entrances may seem a bit peculiar. There are also a number of instances where the lyrics don’t “line up”; this is another reflection of a much older style of writing choral music. Different parts have the melody at times.

This arrangement has been done as a “Mini Opera” with the Tenors as The Narrator, the Sopranos as The Page, the Basses as The King and the Altos offering all sorts of harmonic support. Even though it's labeled as Easy Intermediate, it does approach the edge of standard ranges for altos and basses.

If you really want to add some flavor to it, the top line of the piano part could be played by a recorder, penny whistle, etc. whenever there is no one singing.
