Original music inspired by the poem of the same name by 16 year old Lucretia Davidson in 1823. She was probably ill when she wrote To a Star, making the references to Heaven and her soul rather poignant. I was inspired by the way she was able to precisely characterize the wonderment and awe we all feel when we gaze at the stars. I wanted to capture her sense of joy and to have my music embody the mystery of the heavens and our own yearnings to soar when our imprisoned souls are freed.
