Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1100300 Composed by Sara Garrard. Christmas,Classical,Early Music,Holiday,Sacred. Octavo. 5 pages. Sara Garrard #704176. Published by Sara Garrard (A0.1100300). A new setting of Catherine Winkworth's words, A Spotless Rose. The piece is SATB with piano, with a flowing, modal feel perfect for winter or Christmas. A spotless Rose is blowing, Sprung from a tender root, Of ancient seers' foreshowing, Of Jesse promis'd fruit; Its fairest bud unfolds to light Amid the cold, cold winter, And in the dark midnight. The Rose which I am singing, Whereof Isaiah said, Is from its sweet root springing In Mary, purest Maid; For through our God's great love and might The Blessed Babe she bare us In a cold, cold winter's night.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.998832 Composed by Robert A. Howard. 21st Century,Contemporary,Easter,Sacred,Standards. 5 pages. Robert A. Howard #6129263. Published by Robert A. Howard (A0.998832). This is a simple E minor setting of the familiar Good Friday words, using a repeated binary structure, almost in the manner of an alternating verse/chorus form. The piece is a counterpart to Howard's own 2016 setting of the Ave Verum Corpus, with which it shares the same key (also available via Sheet Music Plus). The chorus displays a clearly morose yearning in its appoggiaturas, upward leap and consequent falling phrase. By contrast, the verse is almost a recitative, featuring tense repetitions on one tone above a series of chromatically descending triads and pedal point. The work is appropriate for most standards of 4-part choir, including schools, students, community, church and cathedral choirs. The accompaniment can be on piano or organ. Versions of the work for solo voice, and for SA choir, are also available via Sheet Music Plus.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.774724 Composed by Traditional. Arranged by Sandra Milliken. Folk,World. Octavo. 14 pages. Sandra Milliken #3873279. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774724). The Old Palmer Song is a favourite Australian folk song that is meant to be sung in a rollicking style that reflects the excitement and anticipation of hardy Australian colonials setting out in search of gold. Following hard on the heels of the great California gold rushes (1848 – 1855) came the discovery of payable quantities of gold in Australia. The first gold rush in Australia began in New South Wales in May 1851 after prospector Edward Hargraves discovered gold near Orange, at a site he called Ophir. Other discoveries quickly followed, including those at Ballarat and Bendigo in the colony of Victoria. Then came Rosewood and Gympie (1867) in Queensland; the Gawler region in South Australia in 1868; and Halls Creek (1885), Kalgoorlie and Coolgardie (1893) in Western Australia. One of Australia’s richest alluvial goldfields was that of the Palmer River in far north Queensland. The rush to the Palmer began in 1873 and lasted for about three years. The goldfields were nearly 100 miles inland from the small coastal settlement of Cooktown and the early prospectors had a hard time of it just getting to the field. Leaving Cooktown they crossed the coastal mangroves, then on through dense tropical rainforest, into the more open eucalypt forest beyond and then across the dry, inhospitable and rugged country of the hinterland dissected by wide and deep rivers. And always there was the risk of meeting with fierce resistance from the Aborigines whose tribal land they were travelling through. At the height of the rush there were around 35,000 prospectors on the Palmer (including a great many Chinese). By the time the rush was over, the Palmer had yielded over 100 tons of gold! The Old Palmer Song is set to the tune of Ten Thousand Miles Away, a shore ballad/sea shanty that probably originated in Ireland in the early 19th Century.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1359972 Composed by Todd Marchand. Christian,Lent,Sacred. 4 pages. Con Spirito Music #944462. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1359972). “Lord Jesus, Think on Me†is a translation and free paraphrase of a 5th-century poem by Synesius of Cyrene (ca. 375-414), Bishop of Ptolemais in north Africa and contemporary of Augustine, Bishop of Hippo (354-430). Synesius was a public servant and statesman, a neo-Platonic philosopher and poet. In 410, he was popularly chosen as Bishop of Ptolemais, a position he reluctantly accepted, as his views on certain beliefs of the church, including the soul's creation, a literal resurrection, and the end of the world (eschatos) were unorthodox. In the last of 10 odes Synesius authored, he describes himself bowing humbly in the presence of Christ. In the 1930s, a literal prose translation of the ode was made by the Anglican cleric Harold Costley-White:Be mindful, Christ Son of Godwho rules on high, of thy servant, sinful of heart, who wrote these words. And grant to me release from passions breeding death, which are inborn in my unclean soul. But give me to behold, Saviour Jesus, thy divine brightness, wherein appearingI shall sing a song,to the healer of souls,to the healer of limbs, with the great Fatherand the Holy Spirit.Amen. The text of this setting for SATB voices and organ selects verses from a free paraphrase of that ode, crafted by the Anglican priest and scholar, Allen William Chatfield (1808-1896) and published in his Songs and Hymns of Earliest Greek Christian Poets (1876):Lord Jesus, think on me and purge away my sin; from earthborn passions set me free, and make me pure within. Lord Jesus, think on me, nor let me go astray; through dark-ness and perplexity point Thou the heav'nly way.Lord Jesus, think on me amid the battle's strife; in all my pain and misery be Thou my Health and Life.Lord Jesus, think on me with many a care oppressed; let me Thy loving servant be and taste Thy promised rest.Lord Jesus, think on me that I may sing above to Fa-ther, Spirit, and to Thee the strains of praise and love. The incipit of each verse, “Lord Jesus, think on [remember] me, recalls the words of the penitent thief to Jesus at their crucifixion, and the petitions for guidance, forgiveness, and succor make this a fitting anthem for the penitential season of Lent. ©Copyright 2024 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Dedicated to pioneers, the early Utah Mormon pioneers in particular.YouTube video: https://youtu.be/9JVJAuc7P_ABless this arm, keep it sound, as I turn this desert ground. Water flows from mountain stream. By Thy Hand, this land redeem. Sanctify all who toil, blessing all that grows. Let the desert now rejoice, blossom as the rose.   Bless all seeds, as I sow. Let them here take root and grow. Send Thy rains from up above, warming sunshine filled with love. May the toil of these hands, bring Thy blessings close. Let the desert now rejoice, blossom as the rose.   Fire or frost, wind or rain; may my work not be in vain. Help me prosper ev'ry day. Keep the locust still at bay. Through each trial, help me stand, in Thy strength repose. Let the desert now rejoice, blossom as the rose.   In my soul, deserts be, waiting to be turned by Thee. Let Thy blessing as the rain, open up my heart again. May the Lord, bless my toil, ev'ry weed dispose. Let the desert now rejoice, blossom as the rose.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1171401 Composed by Roger Quilter. 20th Century,Classical. Octavo. 24 pages. Forsyth Brothers Ltd #771738. Published by Forsyth Brothers Ltd (A0.1171401). A delightful early opus from one of the most individual English songwriters of the Twentieth Century, Roger Quilter (1877-1953). The texts are taken from the works of Seventeenth Century English poet Robert Herrick (ca 1591-1674) whose lyrics Quilter also set to music in his Opus 8 song-cycle To Julia (1905). The Opus 7 settings are dedicated to Quilter's friend Percy Grainger.FIVE LYRICS OF ROBERT HERRICK (SATB & Piano): Cupid A Dirge Morning Song To Electra To Violets  CupidLove, like a beggar came to meWith hose and doublet torn; His shirt bedangling from his knee,With hat and shoes outworn. He asked an alms; I gave him bread,And meat too for his need,Of which, when he had fully fed,He wished me all good speed.Away he went, but as he turned,In faith I know not how,He touched me so, as that I burnedAnd am tormented now. Love’s silent flames and fires obscureThen crept into my heart; And though I saw no bow, I’m sureHis finger was the dart. A DirgeHere she lies, in bed of spice,Fair as Eve in ParadiseFor her beauty was suchPoets could not praise too much.Virgins come, and in a ringHer supremest requiem sing. Then depart but see ye treadLightly, lightly o’er the dead.Morning Song Let's now take our time,While we're in our prime,And old, old age is afar off:For the evil, evil daysWill come on apace,Before we can be aware of. To ElectraI dare not ask a kiss;I dare not beg a smile;Lest, having that or this,I might grow proud the while. No, no, the utmost shareOf my desire shall beOnly to kiss the airThat lately kissèd thee. To VioletsWelcome, maids of honour! You do bringIn the SpringAnd wait upon her She has virgins manyFresh and fair;Yet you areMore sweet than anyY'are the maiden posiesAnd so graced,To be placed'Fore damask roses.Yet though thus respectedBy and byYe do lie,Poor girls, neglected.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955846 By Willie Nelson. By Vincent Youmans. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. Country. 10 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6373983. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955846). Without a Song (which now holds a place in The Great American Songbook) was composed as early as 1922 by Vincent Youmans. Lyrics were added later by Billy Rose and Edward Eliscu.  It was published in 1929, and subsequently included in Youmans musical play Great Day. To today’s ear the lyrics speak about the power of music to brighten one’s day. The original lyrics however contain text that is considered derogatory and worthy of a study of the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920’s to better understand popular American music and racial stereotypes of the early 20th century.  This arrangement is scored for a 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment. Performance time: 3:20. An apt signature tune for choirs.
