Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus divisi - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1407705 Composed by Reverend John Bacchus Dykes. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. 19th Century,A Cappella,Christian,Praise & Worship,Sacred. 6 pages. Scott S. Stewart #990321. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.1407705). “Eternal Father, Strong to Saveâ€, (The Navy Hymn) penned by Anglican Churchman and poet William Whiting in 1860, was inspired by Psalm 107, which describes the power and dangers of the sea.  The tune, Melita, was composed by clergyman John Bacchus Dykes in 1861. Poet and musician came together to give to us the hymn we know today, “Eternal Father, Strong to Saveâ€.   This hymn, popularized by the Royal Navy and the United States Navy in the 19th century, has since been adopted by other armed services for official use.  Today it stands as one of the most famous hymns in Christendom.  This arrangement is scored for 4-part SATB ensemble (with minor divisi) to be performed a cappella.  It uses only the text of Whiting’s original poem.   Performance time: 3.30+-.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928991 Composed by Dykes, John B. Arranged by Donald A. Mills, 2020. A Cappella,Christian,Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Octavo. 3 pages. Donald A Mills #5222129. Published by Donald A Mills (A0.928991). Eternal Father, Strong to Save, an SATB piece written for a cappella performance.  A medium level or higher level of experience is necessary...the soprano and alto voices start in unison, then split onto a second interval, for instance.  This is not a song made up of difficult to sing intervals, but there are a few here and there.Your chorus and your audiences will love this great melody and lyrics.  A song for a concert venue any time of the year, or for that special military service for someone from the Navy.  Certainly, a song to keep in your repertoire.  .

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1082672 Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Mark R. Fotheringham. Praise & Worship,Sacred,Spiritual. Octavo. 8 pages. Kevin G. Pace #686886. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1082672). Sacred music for SATB choir with music by Kevin G. Pace and text by Mark R. Fotheringham. See text below: Righteousness Eternal, the Son of God supernal, Descended He by God's decree to bless us with His love. He came to earth of humble birth, no beauty to desire. Yet those who heard His sacred Word were blessed with holy fire. None was more deserving, yet He was ever serving. The poor and meek would humbly seek to hear the Master speak. Each story told would make them bold to live a better life, To serve and give, joyfully live and comfort those in strife. Selfless was His power. He sought to bless each hour. With little bread, the masses fed. He even raised the dead. Though sinless, He the Lamb would be, a sacrifice for sin, To save us all from Eden’s fall and lead us back again. Grief and pain He suffered, much more than any other. He leant His breath to mortal death, then took it back again. This victory He shares with thee, so all men yet may thrive. Be it our prayer to meet Him where the righteous come alive.

Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1465850 Composed by James F. Linzey and William H. Monk. 21st Century,Chamber,Christian,Classical,Religious. 4 pages. Military Bible Association #1044448. Published by Military Bible Association (A0.1465850). The History of the Four Immortal Chaplains and the United States Army HymnDuring World War II, four Army chaplains met at the Army Chaplains School at Harvard University. ?ere, they received training for their assignments in the European theater. They then boarded and sailed on the United States Army Transport (USAT) Dorchester to report to their new assignments. The USAT Dorchester left New York on January 23, 1943, en route to Greenland. She carried about 900 military personnel and was escorted by Coast Guard Cutters Tampa, Escanaba, and Comanche. During the early morning hours of February 3, 1943, the vessel was torpedoed by the German submarine U-223 off Newfoundland in the North Atlantic. As the Dorchester sank on that fateful day of February 3, 1943, the four Army chaplains on board helped their soldiers board lifeboats as they handed out life jackets. When they ran out of life jackets, the chaplains gave their own life jackets to four soldiers that they might live. Then the chaplains joined arms and prayed as they went down with the Dorchester. These were young chaplains, new to the Army, holding the rank of first lieutenant. They included Methodist minister Reverend George L. Fox, Reform Rabbi Alexander D. Goode, Catholic priest Father John P. Washington, and Reformed Church in America minister Reverend Clark V. Poling. ?e four chaplains were posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and the Purple Heart. Chaplain (MAJ) James F. Linzey, USA (Ret.), who was one of four military chaplains in his family, composed the United States Army Hymn, “Eternal Father, Hear Our Prayer,” in remembrance of the “Four Immortal Chaplains” on board the Dorchester. Also, James Linzey is the General Editor of the New Tyndale Version (NTV) Bible translation.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1112596 Composed by John Bacchus Dykes. Arranged by Michele Galvagno. 19th Century,A Cappella,Christian,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Octavo. 6 pages. Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele #714605. Published by Artistic Score Engraving di Galvagno Michele (A0.1112596). Eternal Father, Strong to Save is a British hymn traditionally associated with seafarers, and was first written in 1860 by William Whiting (1825—1878), an Anglican churchman from Winchester. According to his recount, Whiting grew up near the ocean and, at the age of thirty-five, had felt his life spared by God when a violent storm nearly claimed the ship he was travelling on. This instilled in him a belief in God's command over the rage and calm of the sea. The music associated with it was written by John B. Dykes (1823—1876), another Anglican clergymen and composer of the music for nearly three hundred hymns. This edition comes in several arrangements for multiple ensembles. At the moment of the first edition it contains the original choir version (with the 1861 lyrics), a voice and piano version, and arrangements for string, cello, trombone, horn, woodwind, brass, and saxophone quartets. The cello, trombone, and horn quartet versions are slightly more elaborated. Additional versions will be created upon request, contact me to know more. This arrangement is dedicated to Martin Smith.
