Choral Choir (SATB) - Digital Download SKU: A0.749819 Composed by Evelyn R. Larter, ASCAP. Arranged by Evelyn Larter Music. Christian,Sacred,Spiritual. Octavo. 48 pages. Evelyn R Larter #3436427. Published by Evelyn R Larter (A0.749819). This collection of six traditional Spirituals is taken from a larger set of eleven titled The Life of Christ In Spirituals which I wrote as a cantata for my church choir and guest soloists many years ago. Scripture passages were read before each Spiritual, providing the Biblical context. In this booklet a two page bulletin insert with lyrics and Scripture references is provided after the instrumental parts. The scenes depicted in these Spirituals include, among others, the raising of Lazarus, the healing of the sick, and Jesus’ restoration of Peter after the Resurrection. The final song, You Can Tell The World, is an encouragement to spread the good news about Jesus. One song has an obbligato part for clarinet or soprano saxophone, and one has a part for  flute. The remaining five Spirituals are available in another collection titled Five Spirituals for Holy Week, focusing on the events between Palm Sunday and the Resurrection. By inserting those five Spirituals between the 3rd and 4th songs in this collection, the booklets can be combined to perform the set as originally conceived. The songs, however, can also stand alone.  The titles are We Believe This Is Jesus, Honor, Honor Unto The Dying Lamb, Oh, He Raise A Poor Lazarus, You Hear The Lambs A-Cryin', Oh Glory! and You Can Tell The World About This. The performance of the first song, We Believe This Is Jesus, is by a youth choir. Please contact me for recordings of the other songs. More information about my music may be found on my website, www.evelynlartermusic.com or on my Facebook page for Evelyn Larter Music.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.926664 Composed by Michael A. Morizio. A Cappella,Christian,Sacred. Octavo. 8 pages. M.A. Morizio #3588427. Published by M.A. Morizio (A0.926664). The Apostle John’s visions in Revelation are nothing less than astounding to all readers. However, little is it known that another Hymn to Christ is neatly tucked into the very first seven verses of this last book of the Bible. John begins his Revelation (verses 1-3) with a prelude, introducing Jesus Christ and the apocalypse (revelation) that was made to him via the angel sent to describe all the things about which he was to write. He says, Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear, and keep what is written in it, for the time is near. After this short prelude, John delivers an epistolary opening (a greeting identifying the author and recipients), then pronounces a blessing upon the recipients-verses 4-6. After both the prelude and the opening, John immediately proceeds to another known Hymn to Christ, in verse 7, which I have called, Behold He Is Coming.  When presented with the text in Revelation 1:7, I immediately thought, Where is the Gospel, the good news, in this piece? After several minutes of meditating on the text, I realized the Gospel message was right there in front of me-in the very last line: Yes, so be it [Lord], so be it, [Amen!] There will be peace! All will be known. Every single person will understand, at that point. The end, is the ushering in of a new beginning. The piece is scored in G minor for SATB with flute and Bâ™ clarinet accompaniment. In the opening phrase, we hear the clarinet on a sustained high (concert) G, which crescendos into a quick, descending sixteenth note pattern. There is urgency! The flute joins the clarinet in a duet to complete the introduction to the anthem. Then, the choir begins their haunting chant, Behold, He is coming with the clouds. Every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him. Every eye will see Him and all the tribes of the earth will mourn over Him . Alas, there is peace! The two instruments dissolve into an a cappella four-part chorale where the choir creates the agreement between the text and the music, modulating to the relative major (Bâ™)-all is reconciled in a final Amen!

SATB choir and organ - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q54420 Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis. Composed by Julian Anderson. This edition: choral score. Choral Music of Our Time. Downloadable, Choral score. Duration 9 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q54420. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q54420). English.Although I had already set separate Latin versions of both the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, this is the first time I’ve made a setting in English of both texts for use at Evensong. I have often attended Evensong in the Cambridge college chapels: it’s a service whose meanings and spirituality are quite different from any other, and it has its own special atmosphere. Evensong’s coupling of Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis texts is fascinating: the exuberant celebration of the former contrasts so marvellously with the intimate reflections of the latter. In my Evening Canticles I have tried to make the most of that contrast. The Magnificat is forceful, replete with sprung rhythms, polymeter, and bright harmonies showing off the brilliance of the choir. Some use is made (especially near the opening) of free rhythms in which every singer performs a passage at their own speed, creating a spray of sound. The Nunc Dimittis, on the other hand, is predominantly clear and transparent, even austere, allowing the singers to shape melodic lines with expression and lyricism, as befits the text. I was enormously excited to be invited to compose my Evening Canticles for Andrew Nethsingha and the Choir of St John’s College, Cambridge. I want to thank all the performers for giving the work such a splendid launch, and for the magnificent recording on this CD. The work is dedicated to Andrew Nethsingha. JA 2019.

Mixed choir (SATB) a cappella - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q38360 Composed by Magdalena Zimmermann. This edition: choral score. Schott Choral Music. Downloadable, Choral score. Schott Music - Digital #Q38360. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q38360). English. The composition 'An Evening Prayer' for four-part mixed a-cappella choir (SATB) by Magdalena Zimmermann is based on a sacred poem by the English Baroque poet and philosopher Thomas Browne. To set these highly expressive verses to music, the composer born in Hanover in 1985 uses several changes of key and time as well as meticulous dynamic and expression markings. Thus, Zimmermann succeeds in setting the central statement 'Sleep is a death, o make make me try, by sleeping, what it is to die' in a sphere of dream and night by using means inherent in the music. The chosen form of prayer eventually reveals, according to the composer herself, the hope 'that the death-like sleep is just the gateway to another higher life'.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953621 Composed by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP). Celtic,Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 19 pages. Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) #4807817. Published by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) (A0.953621). One of the most powerful passages in scripture set to music! Good length for an anthem, interesting and idiomatic use of flute and harp, nice mix of beautiful melodic passages and crunchy bits!A Setting of Philippians 2:5-11 from New Revised Standard VersionFor SATB chorus, flute, and clàrsach (Scottish lever harp) or harp or pianoDuration approximately 5:00 The Letter of Paul to the Philippians 2:5-11 (NRSV)*Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness. And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death - even death on a cross. Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. *New Revised Standard Version Bible, copyright © 1989 National Council of the Churches of Christ in the United States of America. Used by permission. All rights reserved.Composed by Adrienne Inglis in 2014 and premiered in 2014 in Austin, Texas, by the Westminster Presbyterian Church Sanctuary Choir, In Heaven and on Earth for SATB chorus, flute, and clàrsach, draws inspiration from the tune Love is the Cause of my Mourning from The Caledonian Pocket Companion Book 1, p. 27. The piece opens with the tune altered to G mixolydian mode. As the word exploited appears, a sinister-sounding E flat enters the harmony. Open octaves between soprano and bass show the emptying, followed by a shift to E phrygian mode with the word slave. Several dissonances emerge as the narrative gets darker. The flute and clàrsach represent chaos or hell with an aleatoric interlude of extended techniques involving tongue rams, flutter tonguing, multiphonics, spoken syllables, and lever glissandi. The harp then joyfully proclaims the new tonality of G major in a fanfare to introduce the text of praise and exaltation. The original source tune returns harmonically restored to G major.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953634 Composed by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP). Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Sacred,World. Octavo. 16 pages. Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) #6883479. Published by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) (A0.953634). Celebratory sacred intermediate-level piece for the Christmas season, with gorgeous Spanish textOs nace un Cordero (Unto You a Lamb is Born)Commissioned by Chorus Austin for On a Winter’s Eve 2021Music by Adrienne (ASCAP)Text by Santa Teresa de Jesús de Ãvila, España (1515-1582)SATB chorus, piano, pedal or lever harpLanguage: SpanishDuration 3:30Commissioned by Chorus Austin, Os nace un Cordero (Unto You a Lamb Is Born) sets excerpts from the Spanish poem Pastores que veláis by Santa Teresa de Jesús de Ãvila for SATB mixed chorus, piano, and harp. As angels announce the birth of Jesus to the shepherds, Teresa foreshadows Jesus’ crucifixion by referring to him as Cordero (Lamb). She also affirms Jesus as the fully human (hombre también junto) and fully divine son of the sovereign God (Hijo de Dios Soberano). The piece opens with angels approaching from a distance singing pastores (shepherds) followed by joyful choral couplets. Several dualities weave together representing the oneness of the human and divine: harp and piano; Venezuelan joropo rhythm derived from Spanish dance; sixteenth century text and twenty-first century music; and major and Phrygian modes. Spanning cultures, oceans, and centuries, this music exuberantly announces the celebrated birth of Christ. Translation by Adrienne Inglis and Jennifer Inglis Hudson Ah, shepherds who watch, for keeping your flock, see that a Lamb is born to you, Son of Sovereign God!  Oh, he's fully a man as well!In his hand is the life of every creature; look, this is the Lamb, Son of Sovereign God.https://youtu.be/u8gTnpn3VuE?t=5485
