Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1349231 Composed by Todd Marchand. Christian,Sacred,Traditional. 16 pages. Con Spirito Music #933976. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.1349231). Three Evening Canticles were written as part of a setting of choral evensong for Church of the Holy Apostles - Anglican, Fort Worth, Texas. Metrical, mostly homophonic, and conservative in technical challenges and ranges, these canticles are accessible for small choirs and those of moderate ability, yet musically satisfying for large and accomplished groups. Phos Hilaron (“O Gladsome Lightâ€) is one of the earliest known Christian hymns (ca. 3rd-4th century) recorded outside of the Bible. Intended to be sung at the kindling of lights in the evening, it is sometimes known as the “lamp-lighting hymn†and has been adopted by some Anglican bodies as an optional invitatory canticle immediately preceding the psalm(s) appointed for the day.Magnificat (The Song of Mary) is a scriptural canticle based on an account in the Gospel of Luke (1:46-55). Mary, the expectant mother of Jesus, visits her cousin  Elizabeth, the expectant mother of John the Baptist, who will prophetically proclaim the coming of the Messiah. Elizabeth praises Mary for her faith and subjection to God’s will, and Mary responds, “My soul doth magnify the Lord ... for he that is mighty hath magnified me ... and his mercy is on them that fear him throughout all generations.†The Magnificat is said or sung immediately after the first lesson (scripture reading) in the service of evening prayer. Nunc Dimittis (The Song of Simeon) is also a scriptural canticle taken from Luke (2:29-32).  Simeon, a devout Jew, had been promised by the Holy Spirit that he would not die until he had seen the Messiah. When Mary and Joseph bring the infant Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem for the ceremony of redemption of the firstborn son, Simeon takes the child into his arms and says “Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace ... for mine eyes have seen thy salvation.†The Nunc Dimittis is said or sung after the second lesson in evening prayer.Texts for these settings are from The Book of Common Prayer (2019), Traditional Language Edition, according to the use of the Anglican Church in North America, and they are largely the texts of the 1662 Book of Common Prayer of the Church of England.©Copyright 2023 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP). Choral Choir (4-Part) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.882467 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Matthijs van der Moolen. Christian,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Octavo. 18 pages. Matthijs van der Moolen #566711. Published by Matthijs van der Moolen (A0.882467). These ‘Three Equali’ are amongst the few pieces that were written for trombone ensemble by a well- known composer, and therefor they are very important pieces for the trombone repertoire. This particular edition is different from the ones that most trombone players know. First of all, it contains a score for male choir. And secondly, it is transposed a major second down. The reason for this is that the original version is too high for the male voices. The version for male choir was added to the first and the last movement by Ignaz Seyfried, a friend of Beethoven. To make the words fit to the music, he had to be quite free with interpreting the rhythmical structure that Beethoven composed. It is debatable if the vocal and instrumental version should be performed all together or alternating with each other. According to the notes about Beethoven’s funeral (where the first and last movement were performed), the voices and instruments were alternating during this performance. The second movement was performed on a later moment, but the link between the instrumental version (with text by Frans Grillparzer) was not made. I have taken the freedom to put these two together in this score, and transposed it one major second down to make it fit smoothly in between the other two movements. The first and last movement also contained a text in Latin, but since the second movement was only available in German, I also used the German texts for the other movements.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1332087 Composed by Colin Eatock. A Cappella,Classical. 40 pages. Colin Eatock Music #918864. Published by Colin Eatock Music (A0.1332087). A cappella SATB choir/quartet; ca. 9 min.The composer writes: A few years before I composed these settings by three American poets, I composed my Four Elizabethan Songs About Love (2016-2018). The texts I’ve used in Three American Poems About Love (2020) bring us forward in time about three centuries, and transpose the location from England to the USA. However, like the poems in the Elizabethan set, the texts in my American set are not all conventional love songs. The first, “Invitation to Love†(by Paul Laurence Dunbar) is a glowing reflection on the nature of love itself, rather than an expression of love directed towards a specific other. The second, “Spring Night†(by Sara Teasdale) is a wistful reflection on lovelessness, despite the consolations of beauty. Only the third, “Our Love†(by James Russell Lowell) is a love song in the conventional sense: a profession of enduring love between two people.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.877669 Composed by Samuel Micah Hunter. A Cappella,Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Folk,Sacred. Octavo. 2 pages. Samuel Hunter #3417659. Published by Samuel Hunter (A0.877669). A small, simple, and sensitive work for a capella SATB choir, The First Witnesses explores the birth of Jesus from the perspective of the animals present in the stable in Bethlehem.  Each verse presents Jesus as both newborn baby and Lord of all creation, including the very animals who were the first witnesses to his birth.  This piece was premiered by the Chamber Choir of Stillwater Christian School in December of 2016, a mere three weeks after its composition.  Hunter says of the piece: It was presented to the choir as a 'read through' piece in rehearsal, but instantly became a favorite and was added to our concert program at the last minute.  It has since become a staple of our Christmas literature, and has consistently been a Christmas favorite for both our choirs and our audiences.  Easy to learn, fun to sing, and celebrating a childlike imagination of the first Christmas, The First Witnesses is a true singer's song, which makes it enjoyable to rehearse and perform.  The simple, pentatonic melody lends the piece a folk flavor, and the men and women both get chances to shine in their respective soli sections.  A beautiful ooh refrain ends each verse, including the last.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1102559 Composed by David Perkins. Children,Comedy,Contemporary. Octavo. 37 pages. David Perkins #705972. Published by David Perkins (A0.1102559). A lively setting for choir and piano of three of the most popular tales from the first volume of poems written and published by Hilaire Belloc in 1907: 1. Rebecca (who slammed doors for fun and perished miserably); 2. Henry King (who chewed bits of string and was early cut off in dreadful agonies); 3. Jim (who ran away from Nurse and was eaten by a lion); The text is rich with humorous twists and turns, moments of melodrama, pathos and comic asides. With the help of a colourful piano accompaniment, these musical settings breathe new life into the classic poems with a direct storytelling style and plenty of humour. Three Cautionary Tales for Choirs can be performed as a whole or as separate songs, with a total running time of about 8:30.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1350508 Composed by Charles Ives. Arranged by Stanley M Hoffman. 20th Century,Classical. 12 pages. Stanleymhoffman.com #935320. Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.1350508). I have long had a fondness for the songs of Charles Ives whose music is in the Public Domain for the world as of 2024. Creating choral versions of some of them is inspired by the solo recordings made by Jan DeGaetani accompanied by Gilbert Kalish, and by the choral recordings made by The Gregg Smith Singers. That Ives composed over one hundred songs is no small feat. Though they vary in quality as does his entire oeuvre, some of them remain almost mystical to me in their quality and effect. Like a Sick Eagle and The Indians (renamed here to The Native Americans to match the current times) are two such songs. When arranging Like a Sick Eagle, I visited the website for the Charles Ives Society where I discovered that he grouped this song with The Indians under the master title Set No. 10 of Three Pieces with the song Luck and Work placed between them for contrast. I knew I could arrange the first and third songs for mixed chorus, but I also knew right away that the second song would be all but impossible to arrange for I was already familiar with it. So I included it in its original version and labeled it for Solo Voice or Unison Chorus and Piano. In creating these arrangements I hope to rekindle interest in Ives’ music and its possibilities. I also hope that you find these songs as moving as I do.—Stanley M. Hoffman—Set No. 10 of Three Pieces (Charles Ives [1874-1954]) - 1) Like a Sick Eagle, 2) Luck and Work, 3) The Native Americans (The Indians) arranged for SATB chorus (divisi) and piano - English - composed 1920-1921, arranged in 2021. NotePerformer 4 audio and scrolling score video in search of live performances.Arrangement: © Copyright 2021 by Stanley M.
