Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1176000 By Floyd Cramer. By Harry Warren and Mack Gordon. Arranged by Stewart J Wallace. Film/TV,Jazz,Standards. Octavo. 22 pages. Stewart J Wallace #776126. Published by Stewart J Wallace (A0.1176000). Chattanooga Choo Choo was recorded by the Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1941 and was the first song to gain a gold record for 1.2 million sales. It was featured in the film Sun Valley Serenade, released in the same year. Many other artists have recorded the song over the years, including Harry Connick Jr, George Benson, and Floyd Cramer. This is an SATB choir and piano arrangement that incorporates some scat-style accompaniment in the lower voices, with the melody sung by the sopranos. The opening will need some careful counting - fingers clicks might help - and throughout the rhythms should be sung with a relaxed, swing feel. The words need to be articulated clearly too. The piano accompaniment mirrors the voices in the main sections and provides block-chord accompaniment in the middle 8, but chord symbols also allow for some freedom from the score. The sheet music includes a SATB-only copy, so it could be performed a capella.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1153733 By Stewart J Wallace. By Traditional. Arranged by Stewart J Wallace. 19th Century,A Cappella,Comedy,Folk,Traditional. Octavo. 12 pages. Stewart J Wallace #753994. Published by Stewart J Wallace (A0.1153733). An arrangement of the traditional West Country English folksong Widicombe Fair for SATB a cappella voices. This is a ghostly and humorous tale of Tom Pearce's old grey mare and the motley collection of Bill Brewer, Jan Stewar, Peter Gurney, Peter Davey, Daniel Widdon, Harry Hawke and old Uncle Tom Cobley who all endeavour to go to Widicombe Fair with the horse as their means of transport. The melody is mainly in the tenors and basses at the beginning, and there is a minor section for two verses in the middle. In the original song there are up to 9 verses with several variations, but this arrangement cuts it down to 8 verses which is still almost 4 minutes running time! A simple piano, guitar, or accordion accompaniment can be added by playing the chord symbols and the choir should be encouraged to add vocal effects to bring this song (and possibly the old grey mare) alive.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.955872 Composed by Isham Jones. Arranged by Scott S. Stewart. 20th Century. 9 pages. Scott S. Stewart #6527833. Published by Scott S. Stewart (A0.955872). I'll See You in My Dreams (1924) is a popular song, composed by Isham Jones, with lyrics by Gus Kahn.  While their names may have slipped from public consciousness, many of the songs written by Jones and Kahn continue to live on. Composer Jones alone put out more than a hundred, many of them musical standards. Lyricist Kahn collaborated with other composers such as Sigmund Romberg, George Gershwin and Harry Warren. This standard from The Great American Songbook makes for a great closer, or encore, for an outdoor evening program, an intimate recital offering, etc.  It is arranged for 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment. Performance time: 3:39+-

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1361232 By Dizzy Gillespie, Sonny Stitt, Sonny Rollins. By Dorothy Fields and Jimmy McHugh. Arranged by Stewart J Wallace. 20th Century,Barbershop,Broadway,Film/TV,Jazz,Musical/Show. 17 pages. Stewart J Wallace #945722. Published by Stewart J Wallace (A0.1361232). On The Sunny Side Of The Street was composed in 1930 and was first heard in a Broadway revue which starred Harry Richman and Gertrude Lawrence. The first recordings also appeared in the same year, and it went on to be become a jazz standard, covered by Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole, and Art Tatum amongst others. The final bars of this arrangement include a brief tribute to Count Basie, who also recorded the song. The singing needs to light and swinging, with good articulation to the words and accurate placement of the syncopated rhythms. Try to blend the voices so that they sound as one, and aim for a softer, crooning vocal tone, like The Ink Spots or The Andrews Sisters.
