World Leaders Education Institute Graduation Ceremony Song

 Johnson K. Gao

August 2, 2020

All things have their birth.

All things have their death.

The doomsday will fall finally.

Pray to the God and worship Buddha

May not work out.

Human beings must be the self-saviors.

 The aim of World Leaders Education Institute

Is to postpone the doomsday that great goal.

Note: The melody of the song was composed during July 26-29, 2020, as the practice No. 3 in covid-19 period. That was a piece of pure music. The lyrics, both in English and Chinese, were added on Sunday, August 2, 2020. It was just the day that the Dragon space aircraft (SpaceX) was safely returned to the Earth, splashed down in the Gulf of Mexico and two crew members - the astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley were in good condition.

Composed by Nicholas White. 21st Century,Classical,Sacred,Traditional. Octavo. 8 pages. Nicholas White Music #848743. Published by Nicholas White Music (A0.1255178).

In his O Salutaris, Nicholas White provides us a very expressive and beautiful Eucharistic motet. This traditional Latin text has been set for SATB choir and organ. The text of the O Salutaris Hostia is taken from the last two verses of Verbum Supernum, one of the five Eucharistic Hymns written by St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) at the request of Pope Urban IV (1261-1264) when the Pope first instituted the Feast of Corpus Christi in 1264. This beautiful text is most frequently sung in its liturgical contact at Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament or as a Eucharistic motet at Mass.

O Salutaris Hostia
Quae caeli pandis ostium.
Bella premunt hostilia;
Da robur, fer auxilium.

O Saving Victim opening wide
The gate of heaven to all below.
Our foes press on from every side;
Thine aid supply, Thy strength bestow.

Uni trinoque Domino
Sit sempiterna gloria:
Qui vitam sine termino,
Nobis donet in patria. Amen.

To Thy great name be endless praise
Immortal Godhead, One in Three;
Oh, grant us endless length of days,
In our true native land with Thee. Amen.

This motet is dedicated to the St. Cecilia Choir of Chicago's historic St. John Cantius Church. The composer, Nicholas White, directed the premiere of his new motet, O Salutaris, on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at the Latin High Mass at St. John Cantius Church.

Anthem of the “All nations will be perished, and the world must unite”

Colorful Number One Scholar October 3, 2023

The world was originally no any nations.
The land was plundered and divided into territories.
Colonize first after occupying a frontier;
If you had formed a country, you must raise an army.
Warfare is a deadly killing weapon,
The saints use it when there are no other satisfied ways.
Today's world is in ruins.
The United States, China, Russia, and European Union compete.
Each of them wants to dominate the world.
They don't want to be cooperative diligently;
They use the dirty tricks instead;
They use every possible means for cunning.
When the saint raises only one foot high,
While the devil has already jumped ten feet tall.
They are blind at what the Doomsday is coming,
They still love to rob and snatch.
They would like to die together;
You die and I die, too.
What a shame.
The human body contains cells.
All cells have membranes.
With membranes they know how to be selfish.
Selfish genes have played an important role in evolution.
Love yourself and your country is only a low level of selfishness;
Sacrifices oneself and destroys countries are the high level of selfishness:
The world must be for the global public welfare.
It is really a kind of selfish seeking benefit only for human beings.
Looking at the world today,
Among Emperors, Empresses, Presidents and Chairmen,
No one is worthy of become a future world leader.
They only know how to love themselves
And their countries’ benefits in a naive way;
They dislike to destroy all the countries,
They don’t practice the rule for world population’s commonwealth,
Knowing not the brilliance patriotism in the past
Has becoming the hurdles on the road to globalization.
How sad, how sad!
Preparing to establish the “World Leadership Education Institute”.
It should be put to the top priority.
I advise you not to be too innocent,
All nations will be perished;
This is a historical march.
Ah, ha, oh, eh, yah!
Home sapiensism needs to be promoted.
The world must be unified.

SKU: A0.1143904

Composed by Igor Korneitchouk. 20th Century,A Cappella,Contemporary,Religious. Octavo. 37 pages. Studio at the Post #744209. Published by Studio at the Post (A0.1143904).

Duration: 16 minutes, 33 pp. Description: Exodus is a great story that belongs to everyone. Not only is it central to Judaism, not only is it integral to the Christian Bible, it is an immortal story that has been, and continues to be, an inspiration to oppressed peoples everywhere on this planet. It is relevant not just as ancient scripture but as living text, to be rediscovered by each new generation of an ever-widening Family of Man. The theme of struggle against oppression and slavery was just as relevant to the early Christians persecuted in Ancient Rome as it was relevant to the American Civil Rights movement of the 1960's, just as relevant to the Soviet Jews wishing to emigrate as it is to the South African Blacks resisting Apartheid. From the Dark Ages and the Spanish Inquisition, to Ghandi's emancipation of India, to the Holocaust, to, full-circle, the ongoing struggles in Palestine today, the story of Exodus is a guiding light in a dim and often grim world. According to the composer: The Story of a Leader is a collection of ‘re-chorales’ I created one summer when I was totally immersed in a post-educational obsession with the 371 Chorales by Johann Sebastian Bach. We used to study these to learn the rules of harmony and voice-leading (no parallel fifths, avoid crossed voices, etc.) at the Cleveland Institute of Music where I began my compositional career. That summer, now a professor of music in my own right, I discovered many broken and bent rules by the master himself and, along with the glory of being able to work through these Chorales myself at the piano, I felt an incredible feeling of liberation and possibilities unmediated by instructors of music theory. I began by stripping away all that Bach wrote, leaving only the hymn tunes which were not his to begin with. These tunes existed long before Bach used them for his tonal experiments, some attributed to Martin Luther, or someone else, others simply listed as ‘anonymous’. The same is true for the texts, which were then translated into English mostly in the 19th century (the provenance of each can be found herein on the first page of each of my reharmonizations). In some cases I modified the text to fit the context. I selected 12 of these ‘re-chorales,’ linking them together based on their texts in a kind of logic that worked for me, and created a narrative that told The Story of a Leader (Moses). This story is highlighted in the music with such techniques as cross-modal harmonies, points of imitation, a beer drinking song in one instance, and in another, to symbolize the parting of the seas for Moses’ people, an inversion of the soprano line in the bass..

Composed by Antonio Gervasoni. A Cappella,Classical,Contemporary,Multicultural,World. Octavo. 18 pages. Antonio Gervasoni #692665. Published by Antonio Gervasoni (A0.1088399).

Single-movement work for a cappella choir. I started composing A-nir in April 2002, as a piece for my composition class at the National Conservatory of Music. The title means lamentation in the Sumerian language and the text corresponds to the first twenty-one lines of The Lament for Sumer and Urim, written between 2600 and 1700 BC. The transliteration (i.e. a conversion to the Latin alphabet) of the original cuneiform version was done by the Oriental Institute of the University of Oxford and published online in the Electronic Text Corpus of Sumerian Literature. An analysis of the text presents a three-part structure, with the first and third sections closely related. In 2004, A-nir won the Vanguard Premieres Choral Composition Contest, sponsored by the Michigan-based choir Vanguard Voices, in the category of emerging composers, and premiered on June 5, 2005 at the Ford Community & Performing Arts Center, Dearborn, Michigan.

Great for concerts about nature and the environment, pandemic life, creativity!

Shelter in Place by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) for mixed SSAATB chorus with nature soundtrack created by Chris Clark-Johnson

a setting of Shelter in Place, a poem by Kim Stafford

Commissioned by Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon, April 2021

She has music degrees from Lewis and Clark College and the University of Texas at Austin. An avid birder and environmentalist, she lives in the rural hill country of Central Texas.

Poet Kim Stafford grew up in Oregon, Iowa, Indiana, California, and Alaska, following his parents as they taught and traveled through the West. He is the author of a dozen books of poetry and prose, and the founding director of the Northwest Writing Institute at Lewis & Clark College, where he has taught since 1979. He holds a PhD in Medieval Literature from the University of Oregon, and has worked as a printer, photographer, oral historian, editor, and visiting writer at a host of colleges and schools, and offered writing workshops in Italy, Scotland, and Bhutan.

Shelter in Place by Kim Stafford (used with permission)

Long before pandemic prisoned us,

the trees knew how to guard their place

with roots and shade.

Moss found how to hug a stone for life.

Every stream knows how to move in place,

stay home and yet flow outward,

sending bounty far.

Now is our time to practice-

now to sing from balconies,

now send words of comfort

by any courier,

now to hoard lonesome generosity-

and then to shine in all directions like stars.

Program note: Shelter in Place (2021) by Adrienne Inglis, commissioned by Lewis & Clark College, Portland, Oregon, April 2021, sets former Oregon poet laureate Kim Stafford’s poem Shelter in Place (2020) for SSAATB mixed choir with Oregon nature soundtrack created by Chris Clark-Johnson, Lewis & C lark College class of 2021. Written during the coronavirus pandemic, the poem expresses how quarantine can serve as a conduit for healing, how words of comfort flow despite barriers, and how the paralysis of sheltering in place generates creative movement. The music and poem draw inspiration from ancient forest wisdom, shown musically with a pentatonic scale. The tight harmonies of Locrian mode bind moss to stone and stream to its own flow. Then vocal expression bursts forth with lush harmonies as singers serenade from balconies, sharing compassion through music. Returning to the pentatonic scale, we overcome obstacles and send generosity beyond our ancient and modern world into the celestial realm.

The nature soundtrack features sounds of the Oregon forest, stream, and night sky.

Acknowledgements: The composer warmly thanks Katherine FitzGibbon, Bailey Dean, Chris Clark-Johnson, Kim Stafford, and the Lewis & Clark College Community Chorale.

Composed by Arthur Ager. Arranged by Robert Luke Thompson. 20th Century,A Cappella,Christian,Easter,Praise & Worship. Octavo. 6 pages. Monkspath Music #812573. Published by Monkspath Music (A0.1215879).

James Arthur Ager (1867-1947) was a British composer, organist, and music educator. He studied composition at the Royal College of Music in London under Hubert Parry and Frederick Bridge. Ager served as the organist and choirmaster at St. Andrew's Church in Birmingham for over 50 years. Ager also became Professor of Organ & Harmony at the Birmingham and Midland Institute School of Music (the predecessor of the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire) for nearly four decades.

Although not as well-known as some of his contemporaries, Ager's music, including a variety of songs, choral, piano, and organ works, is worth exploring for those interested in late 19th and early 20th-century music. Perhaps his most famous composition is The Legend of St. Christopher, a cantata based on the medieval legend.

Rejoicing is a beautiful hymn for SATB choir, which would be perfect for any number of concerts, festal days and services, such as Easter, Harvest, Earth Day, or for any suitable occasion. The register for all voices is suitable and accessible, making it an ideal addition to any choir’s repertoire.

This version (in the original key of A major) has been re-engraved for both SATB short score, and long score – giving your choir the flexibility you may need. The short score has been kept as close to the original as possible, whilst the long score features some suggested extra dynamic markings. A PDF scan of the original publication is available via email request.
