Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.1045083

Composed by American Folk Hymn. Arranged by Mark R Lewis. Christmas,Folk,Holiday,Sacred,Traditional. Octavo. 41 pages. Mark R Lewis #649647. Published by Mark R Lewis (A0.1045083).

The tune for Star in the East first appears in print in The Southern Harmony collection, but is well attested as an American Folk Hymn. The lyrics are partially anonymous but most published versions include verses that seem to have been added by the arranger of that version. This Epiphany song has similar themes to We Three Kings but is definitely a refreshing change from that well known tune. This fun arrangement by Mark R Lewis is for Baritone soloist, SATB choir, a woodwind instrument, and bass instrument. Included is sheet music for C, Bb, and Eb instruments and a bass line which can be played by many different bass instruments depending on what the group has available. The instrumentalists can transpose their parts to different octaves for ease of playing if necessary. The Baritone soloist should be a well experienced intermediate singer and the bass line is very active at times, but the choir and woodwind parts should be performable by most intermediate groups. Also available for Baritone Solo w/ TTB ensemble, which is showcased in the sound samples included here. Vocal Range: f minor Baritone solo - 1 1/2 octaves (Bb2 to F4) Soprano - <1 octave (Eb4 to D5) Alto - <1 octave (C4 to Bb4) Tenor - 1 octave (C3 to C4) Bass - 1 octave (F2 to F3, optionally down to Eb2) Instrument Range: Clarinet - max 3 1/2 octaves (F3 to A5) can be smaller if octaves are transposed Bass instrument - 1 1/2 octaves (F2 to C4).

By Mark R Lewis. By Mark R Lewis. Celtic,Folk,Irish. Octavo. 48 pages. Mark R Lewis #649472. Published by Mark R Lewis (A0.1044850).

This original song tells a fairy tail in the style of a Celtic folk song. Both the story and the tune are wholly original and were composed as part of a music production class that Mark participated in during the spring of 2022. This song tells the story of a young boy's adventure in the woods, his skepticism towards what the old folks say, and the results of his failure to listen to them. This piece by Mark R Lewis is arranged for SATB ensemble. All parts get the melody at some point and there are several duets between voices parts throughout the piece. Additionally the accompaniment voices switch between homophonic harmonies and arpeggiating chords several times for increased complexity and interest. The instrumental parts consist of vibraphone, piano, bass guitar, and floor tom parts. Any mellow metallophone would be an appropriate substitute for the vibraphone and the bass guitar part can be played on almost any bass instrument. The optional floor tom could be substituted with any other lower, resonant drum available but should not be a short, sharp sound. All that said, both the vibraphone and bass guitar parts are mostly doubled in the piano or vocal lines so groups that do not have access to those instruments should still be able to perform this piece without concern. This piece is also available for Vocal Trio w/ Mixed Ensemble and the sound files sampled here are from that arrangement. Vocal Range: d minor Soprano - 1+ octave (D4 to E5) Alto - 1+ octave (A3 to D5) Tenor - 1+ octave (C3 to D4) Bass - 1+ octave (F2 to A3) Instrumental Range: Vibraphone - 1+ octave (D4 to E5) Piano - ability to reach at least an octave in both hands Bass guitar - 1+ octave (E2 to A3).

Composed by Public Domain. Arranged by Brian P. Doepke, M.M.Ed., and RPT. Christmas,Contemporary,Pop. Octavo. 10 pages. Brian P. Doepke #3500689. Published by Brian P. Doepke (A0.958105).

This SSATTBB w/VP arrangement is inspired by the instrumental version of David Foster. Hark, listen to the Bells A-gain it Christ-mas-time.  Quick and lively with the same legato inner sections as the instrumental.  Hints of the original are sprinkled into the end this arrangement.  Smartly arranged so that it sounds harder than it is.  It features the whole ensemble as well as both the ladies and the men.  Vocal percussionist has the freedom to create licks leading into various sections.  A real crowd pleaser for an opener or a stunning closer.   ++ ya gotta try it ++.

By Britney Spears. By Cathy Dennis, Christian Karlsson, Henrik Jonback, and Pontus Winnberg. Arranged by Jason Howard. A Cappella,Contemporary,Pop. Octavo. 9 pages. Jason Howard #858044. Published by Jason Howard (A0.1265200).

This arrangement of Toxic is a fresh take on the popular 2000's hit! Taking inspiration from the original and several other different covers of this song, I've written out what is probably one of my favorite arrangements I've written. It's sure to challenge your performers and keep your audience engaged from start to finish!

It starts with a soft drone in the Basses that continuously adds chord tones and volume to build sonic intensity and set the tone right out of the gate! We then move on to a slowed down first verse with the melody supported only by chords in the choir. Vocal Percussion leads us into a tempo change and explosive snippet of the melody before the piece hits its stride. Lots of upbeats, syncopations, and altered melodic tones throughout adds a high level of difficulty to this piece. As we get to the end of this piece, the ensemble will suddenly alter time to a half time feel that not only adds to excitement but also helps to bring the piece to a dramatic closing.

This is written for Solo voice and SSAATTBB choir and a Vocal Percussionist.

As with most of my arrangements I leave many of the syllables blank to encourage the director/performers to put their own spin on the arrangement with their own choice of syllables! Suggested syllables in certain spots and all necessary melodic lyrics have all been included for you!

I hope that you and your group enjoys my arrangement! If you do (or even if you don't), please leave a comment and let me know! As a current full time band director who would love to be able to do this full time one day, any and all critiques are appreciated, and I'm particularly interested in formatting suggestions! If you would rather email me than leave a comment, shoot me an email at jhowardarranging@gmail.com!

A little about me:
My name is Jason Howard, and at the time of this publication, I'm going into my 5th year as a band director at the middle and high school levels. I have quite a bit of experience with arranging of various types of vocal and instrumental ensembles and combos. Most are for personal use, but as I get time, I hope to publish more and more for public consumption! Primarily, I focus on popular music, and I one day hope to bring important and influential classical musics to audiences and younger students everywhere!

SATB choir and piano 4-hands, or soprano saxophone, percussion (3 Players), harp, contrabass, and piano 4-hands - Moderately Difficult - Digital Download

SKU: MQ.7927-E

Composed by David Conte. 15 pages. E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital #7927-E. Published by E. C. Schirmer Music Company - Digital (MQ.7927-E).

English.

American Triptych presents aspects of spiritual experience as expressed by three North American poets: Americans E. E. Cummings and W. S. Merwin, and Canadian Bliss Carman. Commissioned by the Reading Choral Society, Reading, Pennsylvania, David DeVenney, conductor. The work received its premiere performance on November 13, 1999.
The second movement, a modern translation of the tenth century hymn Veni Creator, is more lyrical in character and gives each section of the chorus a solo verse accompanied by obligato solo lines in the instrumental ensemble. The chosen ensemble of instruments (harp, soprano saxophone, double bass, piano and percussion) gives the work a decidedly American character.
This work can also be performed with piano four-hands alone, or with piano four-hands and any combination of the ensemble instruments, with the two pianists omitting any doublings as indicated by the cues. Duration: 8:00.
