Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576139 Composed by Carroll O'Daly. Arranged by David Warin Solomons. Contemporary,Folk,World. Octavo. 3 pages. David Warin Solomons #2031597. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576139). Choral arrangement of Robin Adair, with some interesting harmonies. Audio sample sung (multitrack and transposed down a little) by the composer The original tune was composed with the words Eibhlin a Ruin (Ellen Aroon or Eileen Aroon) by the Irish bard Carroll O'Daly (14th Century), although it was later attributed to the 18th century Irish composer Charles Coffey (this was presumably an arrangement of the original). The words of Robin Adair itself are understood to be by Lady Caroline Keppel, who was in love with a surgeon by that name. (This seems more likely than the theory that Robert Burns wrote it, although Burns certainly knew Keppel's lyrics and made his own parodies upon the words). Some later versions of the melody contain Scotch snaps but this version follows the simplest melodic line, without the Scotch snaps - which may have been closer to O'Daly's original tune - and with quite romantic choral harmonies.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.496277 By The Pogues featuring Kirsty MacColl. By Jeremy Finer and Shane MacGowan. Arranged by George Montagu. A Cappella,Celtic,Christmas,Irish,Pop,Rock. Octavo. 9 pages. George Montagu #110490. Published by George Montagu (A0.496277). An a cappella arrangement of The Pogues Christmas smash hit 'Fairytale of New York' for SATB choir, this piece is intended for choirs and carolling groups of an experience level somewhere between beginner and intermediate. The parts are written in a way that is straightforward to learn & sing whilst remaining really fun & interesting. It is a firm favourite of carolling group 'All Change Please' whose 2019 performance of a slightly earlier version of this arrangement can be heard in the accompanying audio sample and YouTube video. This version has been updated so that it is easier to sing and more effective musically. If you decide to purchase and perform this piece, I would love to see a video of your group performing it should you wish to film a performance! Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1291785 Composed by Traditional Irish. Arranged by Desmond Earley. A Cappella,Celtic,Irish,Traditional. 20 pages. Seolta Music Limited #882396. Published by Seolta Music Limited (A0.1291785). Bó na Leathadhairce (the one-horned cow) is a playful song learned by many Irish children in school. With origins in county Kerry, located on the south-west coast of Ireland, the one-horned cow is a metaphor for a poitín still (think Irish home-brewed moonshine). The lyrics become more peculiar as the song unfolds, perhaps reflecting the increased level of intoxication of the singer, ‘B’fhearr liom ná sciling go bhfeicfinn mo chaora ‘Teacht chun an dorais/I would prefer to a shilling to see my sheep come to the door’.To explore all choral titles in College Choral Series please click here.
