The Phos Hilaron is one of the oldest existing hymn-texts in Christendom, and it remains an integral part of Vespers and Evening Prayer services in liturgical churches. Katie Kring's new setting is in the original Greek, albeit with modern pronunciation. It a warm, and gently joyful setting, appropriate for intermediate SATB school and church choirs, welcoming nightfall in the light of the Father.
