Arranged by Leon Gray. 21st Century,Holiday,Multicultural,Praise and Worship,Traditional,World. 4 pages. Leon Gray #964588. Published by Leon Gray (A0.1379879). TupuÄnuku recalls the third star in the Matariki (Pleiades) cluster - a star associated with food grown in the ground, and the time after the summer and autumn harvests have ended, when preparations for the cold days of winter undertaken. At this time, it is important to plant leafy winter vegetables and underground foods like potatoes, so that a family (whÄnau) can have food (kai) when the dark of winter settles in. Here presented in a scaled-back (but still exciting) SATB form for smaller choirs, or church groups. This anthem is perfect at community choir concerts, or as part of any Matariki celebration. Like the other works in the series, TupuÄnuku tells its own part of the Matariki story and explores the values of this burgeoning holiday on the Kiwi calendar!

Score. 11 pages. Connie Boss #6403321. Published by Connie Boss (A0.801673). This lovely French carol is about two women that found out that Jesus was born and that he was very special. They went around the town to let everyone know. They made food for Mary and Joseph. They warned others to be very quiet as to not awaken Jesus if he was sleeping. This is in SATB parts with piano accompaniment. It has a unique intro and the last verse has SATB taking turns. cdboss@cvalley.netBring a Torch Jeanette, Isabella French Carol Arranged by Connie Boss   Bring a torch Bring a torch Bring a torch Bring a torch Jeanette, Isabella.   Bring a torch, Jeanette, Isabella! Bring a torch, to the stable call Christ is born, tell the folk of the village Jesus is born and Mary's calling. Ah![a] Ah! Beautiful is the Mother! Ah! Ah! Beautiful is her Child   Who is knocking on the door? Who is it, knocking like that? Open up, we've arranged on a platter Lovely cakes that we have brought here Knock! Knock! Open the door for us! Knock! Knock! Let us celebrate!   It is wrong when the Child is sleeping, It is wrong to speak so loud. Silence, now as you gather around Him Lest your noise should waken Jesus. Hush! Hush! See how He slumbers; Hush! Hush! See how He's fast asleep!   Softly now unto the stable, Softly for a moment come! Look and see how charming is Jesus, Look at Him there,] His cheeks are rosy! Hush! Hush! See how the Child is sleeping; Hush! Hush! See how He smiles in His dreams

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1129659 Composed by Kevin G. Pace (ASCAP), Kathryn W. Hales. 20th Century,Blues,Jazz,Religious,Spiritual. Octavo. 14 pages. Kevin G. Pace #730069. Published by Kevin G. Pace (A0.1129659). A fun, jazzy, energetic choral composition telling the story of Ebed-Melech and how he saved the prophet Jeremiah. Music by Kevin G. Pace. Text by Kathryn W. Hales. Text: The Good Book says that Moses Was buried by the hand of God; And those bitten by fiery serpents Were healed by lookin’ at a rod. Elijah was taken up to heaven By a chariot of fire, But the prophet Jeremiah Was cast into a pit of mire. “Can’t you hear me, Lord?†Jeremiah is a’cryin’, “Wilt Thou deliver me? For I am surely dyin’.†The Lord touched the heart On one Ethiopian And says to Ebed-Melech, “Go and save my son.†That black man, he did hearken And went straight up to the king, “What you’ve done to Jeremiah Is a very wicked thing.†“Can’t you see his misery? Can’t you hear him cryin’? Let me deliver him, O King, For he is surely dyin’.†Then Zedekiah repented, Said, “Go get Jeremiah Out of that old dungeon Out of the pit of mire. Take thirty strong men with you Do not delay or wait, Bring the prophet up again Before it is too late.†Ebed went to the pit, Called down into the dark, “I’s a comin’ to save you, Now, oh man, take heart. The king has relented, But before we start, Put old rags beneath your arms, So the ropes won’t leave a mark. Poor Jeremiah was so weak, He’d almost lost all hope, The men did gently lift him up ‘Cause he couldn’t climb the rope. He was kept in prison, But now he had some food, Until the Babylonians came To seize the multitude. ‘Twas an Ethiopian that saved him, A servant to Judah’s King, Blessed be the name of Ebed-Melek For doin’ such brave things. The Lord uses many people From every tribe and race To be an instrument in His hands, An implement of His grace. “Repent all House of Judah,†Jeremiah kept on a’cryin’, “Turn unto the Lord again, Otherwise you’all be dyin’. His words come down through the years To the people of today, “Repent and turn back to the Lord, And walk His chosen Way.â€.

The verse quietly meditates on the contradictions of Christ's sacrifice: I'm forgiven because You were forsaken/I'm accepted, You were condemned. The chorus provides the joyful response: Amazing love! This sensitive yet powerful setting from arranger, Larry Shackley, is suitable for Holy Week or any time of the year.

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.835422 Composed by Stuart Brown. Contemporary,Sacred. 8 pages. Stuart Brown Music #9697. Published by Stuart Brown Music (A0.835422). Possibly unique: an Easter (or more properly Good Friday) hymn for six-part choir, in which the choir is actually the accompaniment for a piano solo of almost hyponotic dissonance in comparison. The result of superimposing these elements is strangely beautiful. The composer offers the following commentary: I guess most people seeing a piece with a choir and a piano would think of it – not unreasonably – as a choir accompanied by a piano. This piece is subtly different: the way in which I can best explain what was in my mind when I composed it would be to describe it as a piano solo accompanied by choir. While the choir sings music that feels like a slow pavane the pianist plays a series of arpeggios and cluster chords around another relatively simple but unlinked melody. The combined effect is almost hypnotic and if the singers think of the pianist as their accompanist they will almost certainly lose the plot of what they are singing! On first hearing it may appear that the piano and the choir have little in common but the concept is simple enough. Both choir and pianist are meditating on the same theme, but coming at it from totally different directions. There is no formula to the way in which we approach the cross of Christ. We come as we are, seeking forgiveness and reconciliation, meeting at the foot of the cross. The juxtaposition of choir and piano represents that meeting and the cluster chords that the pianist plays reinforce a sense of brokenness that is essential to a proper understanding of the music. I have dedicated this to Canon Andrew White and the Christians of Iraq, knowing that their situation seems impossible in the face of the evil that walks that land, but trusting in the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ to do right even if from our earthly perspective we are unable to discern what right is.
