SATB chorus a cappella - Digital Download SKU: BJ.1445 Composed by Martin Åsander. Christian, Chrismas. Octavo. 8 pages. Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital #1445. Published by Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital (BJ.1445). 8.27 x 11.7 inches. This wondrously beautiful and inviting music embodies the magic and wonder of the Nativity. Based on ancient Gregorian chant, the modern a cappella harmonies move and explore sonorities that bring colorful dimension to the traditional Latin text. A lovely statement for mixed or tenor-bass choirs.O magnum mysterium is a responsorial chant from the Matins of Christmas. I was searching for a text that would easily fit and be suitable for Christmastime and was lucky to find an old score that I had first started working on in 2013, originally in a men’s choir setting. I initially asked myself if the world needs yet another composition featuring this text about the Virgin Mary and the birth of Jesus, but after playing it through a couple of times, I was struck by the simplicity and purity in the music. I immediately started to edit the original score and also made a version for mixed choir, which I decided to dedicate to VoNo Vocals and their conductor Lone Larsen. O magnum mysterium is to be premiered in Tolosa, Spain, in the beginning of November 2021. – Martin Åsander.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.916731 Composed by Mikael Carlsson. 20th Century,A Cappella,Christian,Contemporary. Octavo. 14 pages. Soundtracks Live #4411861. Published by Soundtracks Live (A0.916731). This colourful setting of the Agnus Dei makes use of subtle dissonance and powerful divisi writing for SATB choir, with an astounding and highly sonorous climax for 16 parts. As the text itself, the piece's recurring main idea is repeated three times, to be performed sostenuto and in order to slowly build the piece to its surprise ending.Suitable for liturgical use or as a stand-alone a cappella concert piece. Due to its striking originality, the piece lends itself perfectly to use in competition. It was featured in the World Choir Games in Riga, 2014.The composer later re-used the piece as the only a cappella piece in his 2015 Requiem. Choral score with piano reduction, 15 pages. Duration: 6:00.    .

O MAGNUM MYSTERIUM Voicing: SSAATTBB a capella  |  Durata Circa: 5 min 30  |  Language: Latin | Score's pages: 25|  Score's meassures: 109 Score Preview & info  |  Video Excerpt 1  |  Video Excerpt 2  |  YouTube's Composer Channel Says the composer: 'On this choral piece I have merge two sources that refer to the same biblical scene: The birth of Jesus. On one hand the traditional liturgical 'O MAGNUM MYSTERIUM', responsorial chant from the Matins of Christmas which a great number of composers of all times have reworked into a choral setting; and on the other hand some selected verses from Chapter 2 of the Gospel according to Matthew. The liturgical Responsory evokes with awe the presence of animals that should see the newborn Lord, lying in a manger ending with a fervent exclamation to the Virgin whose womb was worthy to bear Christ the Lord, whereas the biblical text describes the scene of the magi who have arrived in Jerusalem from the east to homage the new-born King. Both source combined highlight that outstanding 'MAGNUM MYSTERIUM' of a “God is with us, the “Immanuel“ ( עִמָּנוּאלֵ ), Jesus of Nazareth. The Magi, the animals, the Virgin, the new-born: My O MAGNUM MYSTERIUM wish to underscore chorally the FOUR PRESENCES of this sacred set-up'.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.939975 Composed by CĂŠsar Zumel. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred,Wedding. Octavo. 7 pages. CĂŠsar Zumel #3007465. Published by CĂŠsar Zumel (A0.939975). Missa Brevis VL is short enough, suitable for daily service or a wedding. We as directors are looking for Brevis Mass to be sung in a normal service, even in a wedding. Here duration is overcame, only one minute each (Kyrie, Sanctus, Agnus). Latin text is helpfull as a tradition point. It is a SATB no divisi piece, for a dinamic, young and fresh choir if not due to the age at least due to the energy. All three pieces belong to a similar composition style and idea. Young and dynamic music for young and dynamic choir. Plenty of energy, it could be worked as a week-end workshop as a step up activity at the beginning of the season. My suggestion for rehearsal and for performance is to start learning the piece by Alti, even at performance level higher rol of alti should be good. Contact info is CĂŠsar Zumel czmorago@gmail.com

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1277132 Composed by Adrian Gagiu. 21st Century,Christian,Classical,Latin. Octavo. 128 pages. Adrian Gagiu #868444. Published by Adrian Gagiu (A0.1277132). Missa Solemnis in B major, op. 27, vocal score and piano part (for rehearsal purposes only). Based on its Neo-classical style, this setting of the Roman Catholic mass text could possibly work as a festive mass (missa solemnis) with trumpets and timpani, and its duration would fit such a solemn service. However, its intense and sometimes dramatic treatment and universal addressability due to its well-known and rather concentrated text, yet also due to eliminating the „Filioque” (which would still fit the rhythm of the repeated „qui ex Patre”, should any Catholics ever wish to perform this as a mass) make it rather a „liturgical oratorio for all nations”, more appropriate in the concert hall. The work has had a long gestation: imagined in 1984 after the composer’s first contact with Beethoven’s masterpiece, then sketched first in 1987-1989, and many of its themes date back from those years. Its working out is quite polyphonic, discretely modal and cyclical, and also full of centuries-old musical symbols traditionally associated with the setting of the mass text: e.g. unisons for the more dogmatical parts, Baroque dotted rhythms at the Nativity (the first coming of the  King of Kings), „rex caelestis” and also at his Passion (whose setting is discretely inspired by folkloric Romanian laments), the „anabasis” gesture at „Gloria in excelsis Deo”, „et ascendit in caelis”, „in remissionem peccatorum” and the resurrection, a flute trill standing for the Holy Spirit who has come ’like a dove’ at „et incarnatus est”, a cross-shaped texture at „crucifixus”, and some word-painting (hushed sonorities at „et invisibilium”, anticipations between orchestra and chorus at „et exspecto” etc.). Moreover, certain symbolic roles are assigned to the instrumental groups when alone (the organ represents God the Father and transcendence, the winds and/or solo voices represent God the Son and humanity, and the strings represent the Holy Spirit). „Kyrie” is restrained and soft, besides the powerful chords opening the respective sections of its tripartite, simple structure, and it leans towards Palestrina’s serene modality and counterpoint. „Gloria” begins with a colorful orchestral introduction depicting discretely the shepherds who kept watch over their flocks right before the Nativity, and then gradually the bright revelation. „Credo” has an orchestral introduction as well, but powerful, recurring and based on the beginning of the plainchant hymn „Pange lingua”, made famous by Mozart’s last symphony and by other Classical composers. Both „Gloria” and „Credo” end with extended, powerful and elaborate fugues („in gloria Dei Patris” and „et vitam venturi saeculi”, respectively) with dramatic modulations and sometimes with enthusiastic syncopations at odds with the words’ accents, a la Stravinsky. The same sections plus „Agnus Dei” end with soft quartal harmonies suggesting transcendent appeasement (similar harmonies appear powerfully at the beginning of „Sanctus”). „Judicare” quotes the beginning of the well-known „Dies irae” plainchant tune, and the Consecration between the „Sanctus” and „Benedictus” sections is represented by a contemplative prelude for solo organ, quoting Lutheran chorales, too. Another long orchestral introduction, suggesting the Last Judgment and based on traditional Byzantine hymns, opens „Agnus Dei”, which includes another quotation (the famous ’Dresden Amen’ at „qui tollis peccata mundi” and „dona nobis pacem”). In the final section, with its refined simplicity, the choral voices enter in descending order, and the „Kyrie eleison” theme is briefly remembered, then it ends softly and peacefully. Total duration: 50 min. Performing Rights Organization: SOCAN. The mp3 audio clip is Kyrie.

SATB chorus a cappella - Digital Download SKU: BJ.1440 Composed by Erik Westerlind. Christian. Octavo. 12 pages. Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital #1440. Published by Bo Ejeby Forlag - Digital (BJ.1440). 8.27 x 11.7 inches. The composer writes:During the pandemic years of 2020 and 2021, I decided to write down some of the melodies, phrases, and expressions that have come to me over the years. These melodies appeared when I was out walking, raking leaves in the garden, or enjoying summer days by the sea. The melodies evolved and grew and were clad in harmonies, a context, and lyrics. The final result turned out to be a Missa brevis, the short mass you are now holding in your hand. The different movements can be sung together on the same occasion, or one by one. This is how I picture the characters of the movements:Kyrie– PrayerGloria– JoySanctus– Pride and reverenceAgnus Dei –Redemption.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.924812 Composed by Stanley M. Hoffman. Contemporary. Octavo. 20 pages. Stanleymhoffman.com #3911795. Published by stanleymhoffman.com (A0.924812). This setting of The City in the Sea by Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849) for soloists and SATB chorus (divisi) is an unaccompanied version of composer's long-planned magnum opus, a secular one-movement cantata for soloists, chorus, and orchestra, on which he has been working since the 1990s. He extracted the choruses and provided musical bridges to link them. The musical language is unabashedly chromatic, but is frequently dominated by triadic harmonies and doubled octaves. The effect is positively hair-raising. For advanced choirs. Duration: 6:40.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869578 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Octavo. 145 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #3581845. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869578). The inspiration for my Missa Pro Defunctis (2018) was FaurĂŠ's Requiem in which he ignored the fire and brimstone text of the Dies irae and Tuba mirum in the Sequence of the Requiem Mass.  And consequently he created a work that is peaceful, tranquil and uplifting.  I'd like to think of death in that way.So, I proceeded by taking the exact text that FaurĂŠ used in his work, and instead of a large chorus and full orchestra I decided to do a chamber version.  It is scored for SATB (single voices), flute, clarinet, string  quartet, double bass and harp. The movements, as in the FaurĂŠ, are:1. Introit and Requiem2. Offertory3. Santus 4. Pie Jesu5. Agnus Dei6. Libera me7. In paradisumThe entire work has a duration of ca. 29 minutes.Missa Pro Defunctis (2018) is dedicated to the residents in the Protestant Cemetery in Rome.Audio link: https://thomasoboelee.bandcamp.com/album/missa-pro-defunctis-2018YouTube link: https://youtu.be/E5b3Ud2tV_4
