Choral Choir (Mixed) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576366 Composed by David Warin Solomons. 20th Century,Christmas,Classical,Contemporary,World. Octavo. 27 pages. David Warin Solomons #18013. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576366). A vivid and at times raucous celebration of Saturnalia, in Latin, for an ensemble of voices and instruments (including various percussion, woodwind and brass instruments). The sound sample is a sung performance by the composer with an electronic preview of the instruments. Further explanations: Song for Saturnalia - a raucous and fun romp - in whole tones (since there is scant evidence of the types of scales used in those days - whole tones just seem to work in this context). The Latin words make references to relatively modern times but the spirit of Saturnalia is timeless, after all. The pileum (also written pilleum) is the little cap that slave wore during Saturnalia to show they were free men and women on that day - they would point to their cap and say libertus sum (I am a free person) and omnes aequales sumus (we are all equal). The words (and translation - both by me) are as follows: Saturnalia Song Io Saturnalia! Hodie igitur dominus noster non es. [Hooray, it’s Saturnalia, so today you’re not our boss] Hodie omnes aequales sumus. Io! [Today we are all equal, hooray!] [spoof of USA Anthem] Salve O Frutici [Hi there, Bush] Ecce meum pileum: [Look, see my little cap of freedom] libertus sum [I’m a free man] [spoof of UK Anthem] Salve O Campestri [Hi there, Blair] Ecce meum pileum: [Look, see my little cap of freedom] libertus sum [I’m a free man] [spoof of German Anthem] Salve O Candelari [Hi there Brandt] Ecce meum pileum: [Look, see my little cap of freedom] libertus sum [I’m a free man] Io Saturnalia, Io! [Hooray, it’s Saturnalia, hooray!] [Note on the invented names (used in the vocative in the song of course): Fruticius is based on the word frutex a bush - it’s also used to mean blockhead in Roman comedies, but I can’t help that!. Campestrius is based on campester - a plain or place of clear ground (Blair is the Celtic equivalent word - a forest clearing!) Candelarius is based on candela - a taper or candle - ie something burning hence Brandt (yes, I know he’s earlier than the other two politicians, but, hey, it’s all a bit of anachronistic fun!)].

Choral Choir,Choral (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1291810 Composed by Timothy Stephens. A Cappella,Christmas. 20 pages. Seolta Music Limited #882422. Published by Seolta Music Limited (A0.1291810). William Butler Yeats ends his short story The Adoration of the Magi with the narrator describing a centuries old Gaelic prayer… when I pray against the demons I repeat a prayer which was made I know not how many centuries ago to help some poor Gaelic man or woman who had suffered with a suffering like mine.ā€The ancient prayer is presented for female voices and solo violin followed by The Magi introducing piano and choir. Yeats’ Magi ā€œappear and disappearā€ in modern times, with ā€œtheir ancient faces like rain-beaten stonesā€. They continue to search and wait for Christ’s second coming with their ā€œeyes still fixed, hoping, hopingā€. Ā The Magi will remain ā€œthe unsatisfied onesā€ until they ā€œfind once more, the uncontrollable mystery on the bestial floor.ā€To explore all choral titles in College Choral Series please click here.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1273068 By Public Domain. By Public Domain. Arranged by Noemi Bretas. Country,Folk,Historic,Pop,Traditional. Octavo. 15 pages. Marcelo Borba #865257. Published by Marcelo Borba (A0.1273068). Arrangement for 4 voices choir. Shosholoza is a popular South African folk song that has a rich history and cultural significance. The origins of the song can be traced back to the late 1800s and early 1900s, during the time of the South African gold and diamond mining boom. The word Shosholoza is believed to have been derived from the Ndebele and Zulu languages and translates roughly to go forward or make way for the next person. It was initially a call used by train drivers and mine workers to synchronize their movements while pushing and pulling railway cars or working in the mines. The song's lyrics and melody evolved over time through oral tradition, passed down among the workers as a form of communication, motivation, and solidarity. The rhythm and repetitive chanting helped the workers maintain a sense of unity and cooperation during physically demanding and often harsh conditions.During the era of racial segregation and oppression in South Africa, Shosholoza became an anthem of resilience and hope for the black South African population. It symbolized their spirit of endurance and unity in the face of adversity, and it came to be associated with the struggle against apartheid. With time, Shosholoza gained popularity beyond the confines of the mines and railway yards. It became a well-known folk song, performed by choirs, musicians, and cultural groups across South Africa and around the world. It embodies the spirit of ubuntu (the belief in the interconnectedness of all humanity) and has been used as a symbol of South African identity and pride. In modern times, Shosholoza continues to be celebrated as a cherished piece of South African musical heritage. It is often performed during sporting events, cultural festivals, and gatherings as a way to celebrate unity, strength, and resilience.Overall, Shosholoza remains a powerful reminder of South Africa's history, the struggles its people endured, and the enduring spirit of hope and solidarity that transcends adversity.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.887973 Composed by Graham Yates. Christian,Christmas,Contemporary,Sacred. Octavo. 8 pages. Graham Yates #5012737. Published by Graham Yates (A0.887973). Based on the ancient Latin text by Prudentius Aurelius, made famous by the evocative translations of Neale and Davis, this new setting of Corde Natus (Of the Father's Love Begotten) presents a beautiful choral reflection on love, creation and worship. Sometimes associated with Advent or Christmas, the lyrics are typically associated with the Gregorian chant: Divinum Mysterium - a style of singing that is difficult for many congregations, even when updated to modern notation in hymnals. This anthem re-presents the timeless lyrics with steady meter, regular phrases full of step-wise melodic motion,  with plenty of unison and light choral harmony. It functions both as a piece suitable for amateur choirs, as well as having enough challenges to engage a more advanced choir. The piano part flows in and through the melody, leading to the punctuating moment of each verse: Alleluia..

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.999346 Composed by Dennis A. Westgate. Contemporary,Musical/Show,Pop,World. Octavo. 107 pages. Tyne Music #5871343. Published by Tyne Music (A0.999346). U. F. O. : Is my newest sci-fi full length modern play in the TYNE ONSTAGE series of original musicals. I wrote this specifically for the senior students of the Performing Arts. It has many leading parts for both sexes and has a hint of the 60-70 style of writing found in those musicals of the times but modern in context. The story line includes opportunities for many individual performances covering song and dance numbers, group singing, contemporary dance, dramatic interludes and strong comedy parts. This is an original story taking a humorous look at a possible visitation from our space neighbours. The story begins with the arrival of   GS2, an ā€˜Interstellar Space Surveyor’ on its mission to map this part of the Universe. Whilst reporting its position to the home base ā€˜Niva’, the surveyor informs them that one of the planets (Earth) appears to have intelligent life forms. On receiving this information Niva decides to dispatch a party of college students to study this unique planet, much to the annoyance of GS2 who take umbridge at being appointed, what he calls a Galactic Nanny! Events take a dramatic turn when the surveyor is called away on an ā€˜emergency rescue mission’ so has to beam the students down to planet Earth, where during transmutation, they are warned not to integrate with the population. But ā€˜students being students’ the consequences are both hilarious and profound. This album includes the Piano & Vocal Score along with the full Libretto. For full information please see my website:- https://www.tynemusic.com/u-f-oP.S. Owing to the high cost in orchestration The music is only available as a piano score with lyrics and chords. However this is reflected in the price. You would have to add your own instrumentation, but this would be an excellent opportunity for any up and coming senior student to take on.SONG TITLES 1)   Earthbound 2)   Hold the Front Page 3)   Sex Talk 4)   We’re In This Together 5)   The Annual Bazaar 6)   You Are Me 7)   Body Talk 8)   Bionic Love

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 1 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1077080 Composed by William Henry Monk. Arranged by Piacere Music Sheets. A Cappella,Praise & Worship,Romantic Period,Sacred,Spiritual. Octavo. 10 pages. Piacere Music Sheets #681177. Published by Piacere Music Sheets (A0.1077080). Opus/Catalog Number: IWM 1 Key/Tone: E flat major Movements/Sections: Andante Year/Date of Composition: 1861 Difficulty: Grade 2/12 (Easy) Obs.: This hymn is sung by Christians all over the world in times of sorrow and deep distress. The lyrics were written in 1847 by Henry Francis Lyte, an English pastor, poet and musician, only a few weeks before he died from tuberculosis. He was inspired by Saint Luke's account of Christ's appearance with His two disciples on the way to Emmaus: They urged Him strongly: Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over. (Luke 24:29). The music was composed by William Henry Monk, music editor of the famous Anglican Church hymnal Hymns Ancient and Modern, and it was included in the first edition of that hymnal in 1861. Mrs. Monk has described in her own words the context: This tune was written at a time of great sorrow - when together we watched, as we did daily, the glories of the setting sun. As the last golden ray faded, he took some paper and penciled that tune which has gone all over the earth. This score is the complete version of Abide With Me for choir SATB. Included: Full score and separated parts for each voice.

Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1169891 Composed by English Folk Song, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, and John Baptiste Calkin. Arranged by Mark R Lewis. Christmas,Folk,Holiday,Religious,Traditional. Octavo. 23 pages. Mark R Lewis #770256. Published by Mark R Lewis (A0.1169891). On Christmas Day is a medley of I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day and I Saw Three Ships by Mark R Lewis. John Baptiste Calkin wrote the music for I Heard the Bells in 1872 as an adaptation of the earlier poem Christmas Bells by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. I Saw Three Ships is an English carol thought to originate from the 17th century, though the lyrics used is most modern arrangements come from later published versions. This arrangement is intended to be performed by SATB divisi choir and accompanied by a 3-5 octave handbell choir. All four voice parts pass the melody back and forth and are featured at different times and explore different vocal and accompaniment styles throughout the piece. Most intermediate choirs should be able to perform this piece, although the basses and alto should be able to sing down to a D2 or an F3 respectively (there are optional notes if this is too low). The handbell part is not particularly difficult but is active across the whole ensemble and uses mallets through one of the middle verses. There are also several key changes that will require quick bell changes or sharing of bells. It is also worth noting that I Heard the Bells is in 4/4 and I Saw Three Ships is in 6/8.This download includes a piano and choir score for when handbells are not an option as well as the handbell sheet music. Handbells are the preferred accompaniment, although it will still sound good with just piano.
