Choral Choir,Choral,SATB Chorus - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1490010 Composed by Text: Eden Reeder Latta (1839 - 1915) Tune: Henry Southwick Perkins (1833 -1914. Arranged by Ken Litton. Christian,Lent,Religious,Sacred. 11 pages. Artist of Note, Inc. #1066874. Published by Artist of Note, Inc. (A0.1490010). Whiter Than the Snow/Eden Reeder Latta  - Henry Southwick Perkins BLESSED BE THE FOUNTAIN arr. Ken Litton (ASCAP)As an SBC music missionary active in Brazil I quickly discovered the hymns missionaries had taken with them as the work gained impetus from the 1890s when the Bagbys arrived to build on the foundation laid by early pioneers like Solomon Ginsburg. I found myself leading those hymns from the nearly 100 year old Cantor Cristão (Christian Singer) in the strongly attended evening services at the Igreja Batista Rio Doce (Sweet River Baptist Church) in Recife, with people literally leaning in through the windows from outside to sing along. Just a normal p.m. attendance or... curiosity about the missionary leading? No, certainly it was the message of the gospel in these great hymns and in the Brazilians’ creative work as well. I mainly remember holding that small print hymnal in one hand and leading with the other (shaking badly) and singing in Portuguese! From that kind of congregational participation I vividly remember the hymn Blessed be the Fountain by Eden Reeder Latta (1839 - 1915) and Henry Southwick Perkins (1833 -1914) with it’s energetic dotted eighth and sixteenth rhythm figures and text of confession based on Zechariah 13:1. That text was very important in the lives of disciples in Brazil and in my own heart. Here I have used only the verses of the text and tune, simply smoothing out the rhythm and adjusting the lyric to more modern usage (yet preserving the devotional pronouns Thee, Thy and Thine). The tune BLESSED BE THE FOUNTAIN is altered in rhythm, tempo and one descending interval from the original.  The arrangement is by me, having built the intro, interlude and key change as well as the ending from the material that constituted the refrain in the origina. As a bridge and additional textual/musical impulse into the key change and final verse I’ve interpolated the refrain from the well-known gospel hymn Whiter than Snow (FISCHER) by James Nicholson and William G. Fischer. The voices include a wide variety of unison, two-part and four-part passages that are well within the capability of the average church choir. The accompaniment difficulty level is about as minimal as it can be I hope, while still reflecting support for the voices, a measure of variety as well as some real independence.I certainly think choirs of some ability and their dedicated accompanists will enjoyWhiter Than the Snow as much as I have in developing it.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.894408 Composed by Zack Richards. Holiday,Patriotic,Sacred,Spiritual,World. Octavo. 6 pages. Zack Richards #5821179. Published by Zack Richards (A0.894408). I wrote this piece in response to the #BlackLivesMatter Protests across the United States and world during the early summer of 2020. The extreme extent of peaceful protests and violent riots demonstrated the desperate need for change in a way I had not witnessed before. I knew quickly that I wanted to write music in some sort of response to the situation, but I struggled at first to find my voice within the movement. I am a white male and have experienced the privilege that comes with it. No matter how much I sympathized or understood the struggles of minorities in our culture, I knew I could not possibly bring the full meaning of it through my music, as I could never really experience the trials they have faced constantly for so long. So instead I decided to write words and music that reflected how I hoped things would be going forward after this movement. I wanted this to be an anthem for those who have suffered through real oppression, in any form. While there are some religious undertones in the text I chose, I tried to find words that could resonate with anyone, reaching beyond color, culture, belief, orientation, age, or any other dividing label. I tried to write in regard to one thing we all have in common, humanity. I hope I was able to accomplish this. The anthem can be done in parts or unison or as a solo. It can also be done with or without accompaniment.

This traditional Latin text has been set for SATB choir and organ. The text of the O Salutaris Hostia is taken from the last two verses of Verbum Supernum, one of the five Eucharistic Hymns written by St. Thomas Aquinas (1225-1274) at the request of Pope Urban IV (1261-1264) when the Pope first instituted the Feast of Corpus Christi in 1264. This beautiful text is most frequently sung in its liturgical contact at Exposition and Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament or as a Eucharistic motet at Mass. O Salutaris Hostia Quae caeli pandis ostium. Bella premunt hostilia; Da robur, fer auxilium. O Saving Victim opening wide The gate of heaven to all below. Our foes press on from every side; Thine aid supply, Thy strength bestow.Uni trinoque Domino Sit sempiterna gloria: Qui vitam sine termino, Nobis donet in patria. Amen. To Thy great name be endless praise Immortal Godhead, One in Three; Oh, grant us endless length of days, In our true native land with Thee. Amen. This motet is dedicated to the St. Cecilia Choir of Chicago's historic St. John Cantius Church. Choral Choir (SATB divisi) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.928983 Composed by Unknown. Arranged by Donald A. Mills, 2019. A Cappella,Blues,Concert,Folk. Octavo. 5 pages. Donald A Mills #4853851. Published by Donald A Mills (A0.928983). With an original introduction by this arranger, this melodic balled is sung here a cappella, unencumbered by instruments. Some of the chord structure is complex, but intuitive. Your audiences will surely love this beautiful song in this new arrangement for SATB.From Wikepedia:Historians have not been able to definitively identify The House Of The Rising Sun, but here are the two most popular theories:1) The song is about a gambling hall in New Orleans. The House Of The Rising Sun was named after Madame Marianne LeSoleil Levant (which means Rising Sun in French) and was open for business from 1862 (occupation by Union troops) until 1874, when it was closed due to complaints by neighbors. It was located at 826-830 St. Louis St.2) It's about a women's prison in New Orleans called the Orleans Parish women's prison, which had an entrance gate adorned with a rising sun artwork. The melody is a traditional English ballad, but the song became popular as an African-American folk song. It was recorded by Texas Alexander in the 1920s, then by a number of other artists including Leadbelly, Woody Guthrie, Josh White and later Nina Simone. It was her version The Animals first heard. No one can claim rights to the song, meaning it can be recorded and sold royalty-free. Many bands covered the song after it became a hit for The Animals.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.726149 Composed by B.F. White. Arranged by Todd Marchand. 19th Century,Christian,Folk,Sacred. Octavo. 5 pages. Con Spirito Music #6733809. Published by Con Spirito Music (A0.726149). “God is Love: Let Heav’n Adore Him†pairs a text by the Welsh Anglican bishop Timothy Rees (1874-1939) with the 19th-century American hymn tune BEACH SPRING, attributed to Benjamin Franklin White (1800-1979), compiler and editor of the influential Sacred Harp hymnal.Quick to rehearse, yet satisfying to perform and moving in its effect on listeners, this lovely anthem expresses assurance in God’s boundless love, from His creation of the world (v. 1) to His love for “ev’ry child of ev’ry race†(v. 2) to His ultimate triumph over sin and death. Verses 1 and 2 are assigned to unison women’s and unison men’s voices, respectively. Then, following a modulation upward, the concluding verse 3 is sung by all voices in unison, with 4-part harmony at the peak of the verse before drawing to a peaceful, unison close. ©Copyright 2023 Todd Marchand / Con Spirito Music (ASCAP).
