Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.844244 By John Coltrane. By John Coltrane. Arranged by Gerhard Guter. Jazz. 10 pages. Gerhard Guter #4267419. Published by Gerhard Guter (A0.844244). If you’re looking for an up-tempo, minor blues swing with plenty of space for scatting and instrumental improvisation, then dig P.C.! This arrangement of the John Coltrane classic, which pays tribute to legendary jazz bassist and Miles Davis compatriot Paul Chambers, provides an exciting introduction, statement of the theme in varied textures, a challenging (optional) soli, and room for lots of energetic drum solos. Following an introductory figure reminiscent of Miles Davis and Victor Feldman’s well-known Seven Steps to Heaven collaboration, the arrangement features two optional background choruses to keep the blowing fresh and interesting. After the improvisation, the drums and piano drop out, sending off a challenging, optional soli (18 second mark in demo) featuring a doubled, walking vocal and acoustic bassline. As this section concludes, the acoustic bass drops out and the drums re-enter, propelling a fugal statement of the melody (25 second mark in demo). Following a return to the head, the arrangement modulates upward by whole step to its exciting conclusion. Piano, bass, and drums read off the included composite rhythm section part. The arrangement, which makes prominent use of sharp ninth chords during the head, is a great teaching tool for basses and altos in any vocal jazz ensemble! Demo performed by Christine Guter, Gerhard Guter, and Dina Humble Backing tracks available here: http://tiny.cc/mpnsuz

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.774744 Composed by Guy Gross and John Palmer. Arranged by Sandra Milliken. Contemporary. Octavo. 11 pages. Sandra Milliken #4887201. Published by Sandra Milliken (A0.774744). Christmas in Australia is the theme song from the animated, made-for-TV movie Blinky Bill’s White Christmas, a spin-off from the Blinky Bill children’s books (by Australian writer Dorothy Wall) and the Adventures of Blinky Bill TV series. The telemovie first aired on Australia’s Seven Network on Christmas Eve of 2005. In the movie the song was sung by Christine Anu, who also reprised it at Sydney’s 2007 Carols in the Domain. Weather-wise, Christmastime in Australia is very different from that in the Northern Hemisphere. Instead of cold, snow and spending time indoors, there’s lots of sunshine, lots of colour everywhere and lots to do in the great outdoors. This delightful song – Christmas in Australia – highlights the fact that, whilst these differences do exist, the true meaning of Christmas, the reasons for rejoicing, the coming together of friends and family, the excitement of children, the decorating, and the caring and sharing are the same the world over. For on this little world of ours, we’re all one family. So, come and join us as we sing, around the Christmas tree. Christmas in Australia deserves a place in the best of Australian Christmas songs. Unfortunately, it is not as widely known and performed as it should be; perhaps because the music has not been readily available. Hopefully these new arrangements for choirs and soloists may go some way towards redressing that situation. This arrangement is available in six versions – SATB, SSA and 2-Part for choirs; Low, medium and high voice for soloists/unison choirs.

Choral Choir (SATB) - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.880294 Composed by Richard Rodgers. Arranged by Matt Falker -- Anchor Music. Contemporary. Octavo. 19 pages. Anchor Music #5779467. Published by Anchor Music (A0.880294). This song was arranged for True North and performed on the main stage of the Jazz Education Network (JEN) 2018 conference. The arrangement is based on the structure of Joshua Redman's visioning on the album 'Back East', including the idea of stop time of the head and moving the form through regular key changes. The vocal version has a powerhouse soli loosely based on Redman's sax solo, plus opportunity for improvising over a version of the familiar standard. The first chorus of the head can feature a single soloist, or has the opportunity to be passed down the line one by one. A fun up-tempo swing challenge for your rhythm section as well!Vocal range: Guys Bb2 – Ab4, Ladies F#3 – Bb5. Included: vocal score, bass part, rhythm score.Demo: Live performance by Pacific Standard Time from CSU Long Beach (Christine Guter, director).Individual part tracks – available soon at anchormusic.com.
