About the arranger:  
Dr. Thomas Adam Regelski (born May 4, 1941) is a retired Distinguished Teaching Professor of Music (Emeritus) at the State University of New York at Fredonia N.Y. He was born in Florida, NY and spent the majority of his professional career in Fredonia, NY. He has published over 135 peer-reviewed articles (see Google Scholar) on teaching ethics, philosophy, aesthetics, musicology, curriculum, psychology and sociology of music and music education. He is a leading scholar of a philosophy of praxis, a social and ethical philosophy that seeks to supersede aesthetics as the foundation of music, music appreciation, and music education.

W. S. Gilbert’s poem “I have a song to sing, O� set to music by Arthur Sullivan in ‘The Yeoman of the Guard’ or, The Merryman and His Maid’ (1888) is an example of a ‘cumulative’ song – where each verse gets progressively longer. It originally appears as a duet in the G&S opera, and gained popularity outside that world with Peter, Paul and Mary’s rendition, as recorded on their 1969 album “Peter, Paul and Mommy.� – introducing the world of G&S to a completely new audience. This arrangement is for 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment. It is an excellent introduction to the music of Gilbert & Sullivan, a teachable moment about form, and a perfect sing-a-long tune to include on any family oriented, community outreach program. Das innige Gebet um Weisheit und Kraft zur Vermeidung von Sünden – hier ins Neuhochdeutsche übertragen – eignet sich für all jene Chöre, die großen Wert auf Klangsinn und musikalischen Ausdruck legen.
