Later, the music increases its harmonic tension on the word “relentless.� The closing phrase is sung on a hum, as if to represent a memory, an echo, or perhaps a shadow in the window which reminds us of something that has passed. The opening line of the text, Love, in whom all things are, is repeated to act as a cleansing phrase to end the piece, and to return us to the idea that we can find love and compassion in everything.
