The Prince of Peace - “For He is our peace . . .� (Ephesians 2:14)

Unto us a Child was born, the royal Son of God.
He would live as Prince of Peace, sent from a heav’n beyond.
He would be our Savior, Christ, loving us each day.
Following his ev’ry step is his righteous way.

Unto us a Son was given, our Father’s first-born Child.
He would grow to save the world, redeeming without guile.
He would be our Rescuer, reconciling wrongs.
Saving mankind was his call so all could belong.
 
Unto us a King was placed within a manger stall.
He will be our Governor and bring true peace to all.
Evil will be nullified as He reigns on earth,
For He is the Chosen One proving each soul’s worth.
 
Unto us God’s Child was born, the perfect Prince of Peace.
As we follow his sure steps, our grateful words increase.
On this Christmas day we sing songs because He lives,

Golden Days, from The Student Prince (!924) by Hungarian-born American composer Sigmund Romberg is a sentimental remembrance by Doctor Engel as he relives his youth while instructing the young Prince. In the mind of the audience, Golden Days stands alone, for it harkens back to wistful days of earlier times. It is a perfect ensemble piece for a program of music from the Golden Age of Operetta, or a retrospective of nostalgic tunes, an out-door concert, or a community engagement run-out program.  This arrangement is for a 4-part SATB ensemble with piano accompaniment. The piece begins with a low alto solo, which could alternatively be sung by a tenor. (the alto would then begin with the pickup to bar 7.) When our lives are filled with fear, we can call on the Prince of Peace to calm us. Though it does reference the birth of the Savior, this selection could also be sung throughout the year - perhaps on a Remembrance Sunday.
