Who better to write the libretto for this classical Christmas story, than the author?
Taking the the actual dialogue from the Charles Dickens novel I’ve added an original score.
This musical play is another in the TYNEONSTAGE series of family orientated stage musicals and will be ideal for any senior school or college looking for something different to add to their festive programme.

There are ten original descriptive songs for both solo artists and choristers.
Even though this story has been adapted and presented in many different ways, I would like to add this, my own version, as a tribute to one of the giants of the literary world.

A musical based on the Book of Revelation, comprising seventeen songs, and lasting approximately 70 minutes (not including narrations / drama).

Soloists required: Angel 1, Angel 2, Angel 3, John and Jesus, with a Narrator (non-singing) and a choir. The choral parts are written for four-part SATB, but can be performed as SAT or two-part.

The choir sing in fourteen of the seventeen songs. If performing the work as a concert version (i.e. without the drama), the three Angels can be played by different performers in different songs.

A musical telling the story of Mary Jones and her Bible, comprising ten songs and lasting approximately 60 minutes. Soloists required: Mary Jones, Father, Mother, Jane, David, Narrator (non-singing), Farmer Evans (non-singing), Mrs Evans (non-singing).

The musical can be presented in several different ways: as a stage musical, as a concert version, as an Act of Worship, or songs can be performed as individual items. The choir parts are written for an adult SATB choir plus a children´s choir, but this can be adapted for use by either adults or children if necessary. The musical is ideal for use in a church or school.

My interpretation of Harlig ar jorden - originally composed for the male voice choir Svanholm Singers - is a tribute to nature and to life. But it is also a reminder of the increasingly apparent threats and challenges posed by climate change.

The piece consists of three different musical and lyrical themes:
Theme no. 1 is Harlig ar jorden, a beloved hymn sung in Scandinavia. The second theme consists of quotes from an acclaimed 1854 speech made by Chief Seattle to Governor Isaac Ingalls Stevens that I set to music, a compelling plea to respect the rights of indigenous peoples and a well-formulated reminder that human beings are a part of nature, they are not its masters. The third theme is a fragment from a Swedish funeral prayer. - Sofia Soderberg

Prayer of Saint Francis is based on the hymn Make Me a Channel of Your Peace by Sebastian Temple, which uses text from a prayer written by Saint Francis of Assisi. Part of the inspiration for the piece comes from Madison CRC, a church I belonged to and worked in for about five years, which was focused on interracial development and combating racism. It is often clear to a person who has belonged to any group of people (for example, a multi-racial church or a choir), that it takes a lot of effort for different people to unite harmoniously to achieve something greater than what any lone person could accomplish. This song is a prayer about unity, about peace between people who are different from each other. Different, in this case, refers to every sort of difference, whether in race, ethnicity, background, social class, gender, sexuality, age, religion, politics, personality, preferences, musical ability, etc. This piece includes different musical styles working in tandem, thus illustrating that differences can work together to create beauty and harmony. Though written by Christians, this is not just a prayer for Christians, but for all of us, that we may treat those around us with love, care, and respect, thus bringing peace to our communities, both locally and globally. I am honored to have had this piece premiered by the Berkshire Choral Apprentices of 2018 at Skidmore College in Saratoga Springs, NY.

Yesusum, Yesusum, is a new rendition of an old Israeli folk tune. The text is taken from the Book of Prophet Isiah. The prophetic verses depict a blooming desert and a blossoming wilderness. The fulfillment of this prophecy has been witnessed with the miraculous development of agricultural life in Israel’s southern desert, the Negev. The current musical arrangement for mixed choir can be performed a cappella or with piano (or organ) accompaniment.
