First performance, Cork, Ireland, 2 May 2003.Its intention is to recreate the atmosphere of the open-air festivity in an Irish small village during its festival day, from the point of view of a Basque musician who never visited that country and only knows its music.The work has four different parts: 1- In the first one, people are invited to join the festival. 2- In the second one, women sing the Ave Maria during the religious celebration. 3- Dancing makes the people happy and it is an excuse to meet. 4- In the last part, when the feast comes to an end nobody wants to say goodbye.The composition’s closing text has been written by JOSUNE LÓPEZ, a component in my choir, Kanta Cantemus Korua. Miss López has tried to transmit all her love and admiration towards Ireland.* The lyrics are in Basque language. Spanish and English translation of the text is included for those who hardly recognize Basque language.
