Choral Choir,Choral (SATB) - Level 4 - Digital Download

SKU: A0.844248

Composed by Ray Conniff. Arranged by Gerhard Guter. A Cappella. 14 pages. Gerhard Guter #4302845. Published by Gerhard Guter (A0.844248).

Voicing: SATB a cappella, with rhythm section (piano, electric bass, drums)

Style: Bossa Nova

This arrangement of Ray Conniff's Favorite Theme from Rachmaninoff's Second Piano Concerto will bring to mind the writing style of Clare Fischer for his 2+2 vocal groups. Though still a challenge, especially with the optional vocal soli, this Conniff-themed edition has been adapted from a more difficult version previously performed by Vocalogy on their 2005 Distilled release. The piece opens with a pulsating rhythm section figure as pianist, bassist, and drummer enter one by one. The wonderful moments of tension have been maintained beneath Rachmaninoff's soaringly romantic melody, and the wordless vocal provides an ethereal quality. With the optional soli, this is an Advanced level arrangement. There is room for improvising regardless of whether or not the soli is performed and, with no soli, this is an Advanced Intermediate arrangement.

Included individual piano, bass, and drum parts play from individual parts with chord symbols, slashes, and rhythmic notation. Drums alternate between brushes and sticks. Electric bass is preferred, but acoustic bass works.

Composed by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP). Contemporary,Easter,Multicultural,Sacred,World. Octavo. 15 pages. Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) #4569683. Published by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) (A0.953617).

Ideal for contemplative, Lenten, memorial services, easy/moderate for SATB (no divisi) with harp or keyboard

Darkness As Light is loosely based on a Venezuelan pasaje rhythm with modified Dorian modality typical of Andean mestizo music. Psalm 139:1-12, 23-24 occurs in the 16th Sunday in Ordinary Time in Year A of the Common Lectionary.

Psalm 139: 7-12 Where can I go from your spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there. If I take the wings of the morning and settle at the farthest limits of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me fast. If I say, ‘Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light around me become night,’ even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is as bright as the day, for darkness is as light to you.

Composed by Alan Bullard. Children,Christmas,Classical. Octavo. 36 pages. Colne Edition / BullardMusic #688801. Published by Colne Edition / BullardMusic (A0.1084615).

A seasonable celebration for SATB choir, optional youth choir and narrator, with piano (or brass quintet, or string quintet, score and parts available from www.colneedition.co.uk). Duration c. 25-30 minutes. This 8-movement cantata contrasts the cooking of the Christmas dinner with more reflective Christmas themes, with an opportunity for the audience to join in at the end. Ideal for Christmas concerts.
We welcome you to our ‘Feast for Christmas’.  In the first movement, Christmas Welcome, the scene is set: but the key to a successful Christmas dinner is forward planning and in the second movement the Christmas Pudding is prepared in November, on ‘Stir-up Sunday’. In the third movement, Christmas Eve, the early twentieth century poet Robert Bridges looks back, on a frosty evening, from his own time to the very distant past, and considers what Christmas means to him. Then in the fourth movement, our Christmas Feast is prepared, and the Christmas Grace (fifth movement) is not forgotten.  It is of course impolite to sing during the actual Christmas Dinner itself, but towards the end of the meal the peace is rudely interrupted by the sixth movement, Christmas Crackers. The seventh movement, Christmas Spirit, reminds us, in seventeenth-century words, of how we should share our good fortune with those who have need of it, and in the last movement, Christmas Celebration, the audience is invited to join in, with the last verse of the well known ‘We wish you a merry Christmas’
Some separate movements are also available: Christmas Recipe, Festival (Christmas) Grace, and Christmas Celebration.

Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Matthijs van der Moolen. Christian,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. Octavo. 18 pages. Matthijs van der Moolen #566711. Published by Matthijs van der Moolen (A0.882467).

These ‘Three Equali’ are amongst the few pieces that were written for trombone ensemble by a well- known composer, and therefor they are very important pieces for the trombone repertoire. This particular edition is different from the ones that most trombone players know. First of all, it contains a score for male choir. And secondly, it is transposed a major second down. The reason for this is that the original version is too high for the male voices. The version for male choir was added to the first and the last movement by Ignaz Seyfried, a friend of Beethoven. To make the words fit to the music, he had to be quite free with interpreting the rhythmical structure that Beethoven composed. It is debatable if the vocal and instrumental version should be performed all together or alternating with each other. According to the notes about Beethoven’s funeral (where the first and last movement were performed), the voices and instruments were alternating during this performance. The second movement was performed on a later moment, but the link between the instrumental version (with text by Frans Grillparzer) was not made. I have taken the freedom to put these two together in this score, and transposed it one major second down to make it fit smoothly in between the other two movements. The first and last movement also contained a text in Latin, but since the second movement was only available in German, I also used the German texts for the other movements.

Composed by Alan Bullard. 21st Century,Children,Classical,Easter. 38 pages. Colne Edition / BullardMusic #985484. Published by Colne Edition / BullardMusic (A0.1402277).

This short cantata is an accessible and tuneful portrait of Spring. Its four lighthearted movements begin as the snow melts and life beings anew: following this is a hymn to spring and new growth, which is followed by the humorous nonsense song `Spring is Sprung' and finally the choir welcomes May in all its glory and promise of Summer. The words of the first and last songs, `The Snow Melts' and `The Coming of May', are by the nineteenth-century nature-poet John Clare, and the second movement `Hymn to Spring' is by John Newton.
Welcome Spring! is for SATB choir, optional youth choir, and piano, and its original title was ‘Welcome May!’.  A version with string orchestra accompaniment (which you can hear on the audio) is also available from Colne Edition.
Duration c. 10 minutes
All movements may be performed separately, and the third movement, ‘Spring is Sprung’ is also on sale in a separate version for Youth Choir and Piano.

Composed by Alan Bullard. A Cappella,Classical,Contemporary. Octavo. 24 pages. Colne Edition / BullardMusic #693333. Published by Colne Edition / BullardMusic (A0.1089116).

Madrigal Book contains four virtuosic and exciting settings of sixteenth-century texts for unaccompanied choir.
The four movements are
1. The lowest trees have tops (Sir Edward Dyer)
2. Hot sun, cool fire (George Peele)
3. Fire, fire! (Thomas Campion)
4. Come, heavy sleep (Anon.)
The first poem sings of the richness, but sometimes the incompatibility, of love, and the second is the mysterious song of Bathsheba, mother of Solomon and alleged seductress of David. The third song portrays the scorching pain of love, which all the oceans of the world cannot quench, and finally the heart-broken lover takes refuge in sleep, ‘the image of true death’

Composed by Alan Bullard. 21st Century,Classical. 90 pages. Colne Edition / BullardMusic #1031565. Published by Colne Edition / BullardMusic (A0.1452243).

Alan Bullard's Canticle of Freedom (A Song for Peace), written in 1999 and first performed in 2000, is a prayer for a new millennium of freedom and peace, and each of the four movements takes as its starting point one of the verses from the nineteenth-century Christmas hymn 'It came upon the midnight clear'.
It is scored for mixed choir, children's or youth choir, soprano and baritone soloists and a moderate size orchestra.
The first movement tells of a solemn, still, and peaceful earth, and the second of a jubilant heaven. The third movement speaks of 'two thousand years of wrong' - the wars and persecution that have disfigured the last two millennia - and the last movement leads us from death to life, with a positive and joyful hope for the future: in the words of the hymn: 'When peace shall over all the earth its ancient splendours fling'.
The text has been selected from a variety of poets and sources, ranging from mediaeval times to the present day.
The score available here is the vocal score, with a piano reduction of the orchestral parts: for avaialablity of full score and parts please contact alanbullardmusic@gmail.com or colneedition@gmail.com
